20C for my lil guy out in the garage.

My cycling tank is sitting pretty at about 64 degrees Fahrenheit (17-18 Celsius).

I had my lotls in two different tanks, one in my room and one in the unfinished side of our basement. But the tank in the basement has been dropping down to like 56F with the cold that we've been dealing with(plus I think the filter was too strong and stressing them out), so I've switched them all into the tank in my room that goes between 60-63F depending on whether I'm running my space heater or not.

According to the tiger water dish, juuuust about freezing.

Currently 18c with the chiller running, on a 29c day :D

Mine is 17 degrees thanks to my chiller. The heat here in Florida is brutal and we are now approaching spring and it is 28 degrees outside.

It's so bad the weather got warm this week and when I got up today it was 22! Had the fan on it all day, and it's down a bit now, bit I don't want to have it yoyo, air cooler unit is out ready for when we at work during the day to attempt to help keep the house cool and in turn, the tank.

I love the way you Poms (that's a term of affection from we Aussies) think waking up to 22 degrees is warm. Here in Melbourne, Australia, summer temperatures reach 45 celcius and we can have a week or more at a stretch where it's 40+ every day and in the high 20s overnight. By the third or fourth day of it, even the air-con is struggling to keep room temperatures below 30. So without a chiller, it's all hands to the ice bottles I'm afraid. Plus lots of fans and extra partial water changes.
PS We also get pretty cold in winter - it's 4 degrees outside currently (at 6.20am) and can go down below 1 degree.

I love how you aussies think 1 C is cold. :D Here in Finland it can easily be below -25 C (below -30 C during night) for several days. Add some wind to that and then you know what freezing is. It's midsummer right now and all day the temperature has been under 15 C. :D

Well not sure on outside temp but here in Texas it stays nice and warm most of the time but my tank is at 70degrees im waiting on a paycheck to maby geat a chiller but 300 dollars ouch or another fan or make a diy radiator

I know the feeling. In canada our temperatures(expecially this last winter) was -30 or colder, and if it warmed up it would snow 3feet.. Then freeze solid. Its almost july and the heat has gone up to about 36 at the warmest outside. I have a fan that clamps on the side of the tank and its on 24/7 and i also have an a/c running on warmer days and my tank hasnt gone over 68F and averages around 64F which is much better then last year! The tank is much lower to the ground this summer though, it use to be on a 2' dresser and now its on a 9"stand(new tank too) i even have my light on at night and it doesnt really affect the temps! Fingers crossed that it stays this way.

Arg never thought to lower the tank stand height thank you for saying that might shave a deg or two awesome I know what I'm doing this weekend

It really makes a world of difference. Last summer I raised babies and they were in tubs on the floor and the water was always about 5F lower then my tank. Last summer I even had to fridge my lotls because the tank went over 74 for a few days. And I struggled to keep it under 70 the rest of the summer.

I'm thoroughly surprised how many people have their tanks 20c+.
With the amount of criticizing and over all self righteousness that goes on around these forums you'd think that people would be flipping out.

Straw Poll: What temperature is your Axolotl tank right now? (or whenever you...

20C is about 68F which is fine. You would never want to see it go over 23C or 74F as they will fall ill and die quite quickly. Last summer my tank was about 72F all summer and my lotls were never stressed or ill. It was as low as I could consistently keep it(ice bottles just make the temp fluctuate to much) this summer i am crossing my fingers and am trying to keep it under 70 all summer.

Summer is hard i am sure for all lotl owners. It is how you deal with the weAther, if you fridge them when it gets to hot, and also consistency as an axolotl will do better at a consistent 72F then temperatures that fluctuate all day due to ice bottles or other forms of temporary cooling

All and all though i try not to criticize tank temps as I am sure everyone has gone through it once before. My tank went up to 80F once.. But my axies were in the fridge way before that happened(2hours at 74 and i fridge them for safety) but it really is close to grAvel and water quality for deaths. I try to emphasize the importance of cool temps when selling babies now as one person from last years batch had his die due to temperature.

So I know what temp to keep it under but what is to cold?

They can tolerate temperatures of 5 C and up. But I'd aim to keep the temperature between 16 C and 19 C. During a heat wave I took my axies to my basement where the temperature was around 14 C and I could already notice them moving a lot less and being less interested in food.
