Please post pictures of your tank!!

can't help but post an update - got persuaded by my husband that the guys needed sand under the rocks - so had to re-do pretty much the whole setup yesterday:) and a bonus addition - feeding bowl, which Axl & Mex seem to love and constantly keep coming back to it - plus none of the food is wasted!

a bit of warning/advice to all though - even if the bag of sand says 'washed' - and the guys at the shop tell you not to bother washing it - wash it! wash it thoroughly! or you'll end up pulling your hair out and having a crazy stressful day like I did:eek:

:DMaybe a bit off topic - but I can't help but share my latest buy - and it's too brilliant to keep to myself.

I got this Kazoo ornament - Kazoo Greystone Arch Aquarium Ornament | eBay - an if you're in Australia (Perth?) - City Farmers has 20% off all Kazoo stuff at the moment, so it's cheaper.

The brilliance of it is that it has absolutely no rough edges; it works as a perfect dispenser for the filter - the water hits the top bit and there's literally NO current in the tank, just the little bubbles; my guys love to explore it inside and out - hide underneath or lay and rest on the shelves, climb the sides, you name it - plus I added Javanese Moss to the fake plants and they're now becoming soft fluffy growing balls - honestly, I'm thrilled to see how much my Axies are enjoying this rock! They have other hides and things, but this one seems to be their favourite! :))

this is my new project that is still work in progress. But i am starting to get excited, put in sand, gonna start planting my plants this week, moss tied to driftwood so i am just waiting for it to start growing. Woo!

Painted my 15 gallon, which holds two juvies (wild and leucistic, both in the back left corner hiding behind a rock)
To paint it I used a krylon fusion dark green spray paint, taped up the rim and taped the lid shut to keep anything from getting inside. Painted the back and bottom.

I just installed a partition that will be temporary, until Toothless gets acquainted with her room mates. I love how nicely the sagittaria is growing! I tied them to small pieces of lava rock.
This tank is so easy to keep clean.

I have thought about a heater in the winter to keep it at a stable temperature to hinder breeding but I am to scared to put a heater in, not worth it.

Edit: but mine drops under 55 at night in the winter and about 62 during the day.. Which gives me eggs every 2-4weeks.

Just rearranged some stuff, and just found out that my bamboo isn't good for an aquarium so I guess I have to take them out, oh well.

If you could make it so the bamboo is partially out of the water then it would be fine. Bamboo cant be fully submerged.

In my tank I have pothos growing and only the roots are submerged, i am hoping it starts to vine out soon(starting a little)

I think you can see it here

I wanted to share a picture of my tank with Calypso, Sparks & George in it! I am pretty happy with it, and they seem to love the hides and especially the fake and real plants.

The 2nd tank with the slate bottom needs a few more plants and maybe some more slate, but so far I like it. It's home to Nessie, Toothless and Lilac, my Melanoids.

Stanley's post-worm smile. Happy with his 3d background!

hard to see him because if I turned on the light he'd shove his face in the corner...

Is that rock formation background real, inside the tank?

I'm so confused now. I see many tank with jagged rocks or slate, branches, aquarium ornaments, plastic plants etc. I was told no jagged rocks or slate with corners because it could damage the axes skin. Also I don't see many aquariums with items restricting water flow. How are you cause keeping the water flow/current low? I thought they hated water movement and it caused stress. Especially water flow from powerful chillers. I had a heck of a time building in stuff to reduce water flow. Am I wrong on all these? Also live plants, don't they need a certain amount of lighting? I'm trying to keep the whole area around my tank dark. I'm so confused. Oh and how do you keep the sand clean without stiring it up making it cloudt. Plus my chiller pump is in the tank, dont want it to suck up sand. Please help me understand so I can make my tank more exciting.

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.
