Not complete yet but thought i'd share my 60 ltr that holds my 2 juvie axies (still needs some plants and the strawberry hide replaced with something bigger )

(; it is a bit small i think but i have no more room for a bigger tank at the moment.(but hope to get a bigger tank when they are all grown up )

I like the strawberry ?

Pumpkin head!

My first ever post!! I've had my lotls, Calcifer and Ponyo for a few months but this week I upgraded their tank to a huge 4ft one and added some new decorations which are appropriately themed for this time of year ;) I'm really pleased with how it looks, just waiting for the rest of the plants to be delivered and it will all come together nicely.

I've gone for bare bottom this time as the (albeit awesomely green coloured) sand was a complete nightmare.

Not a axe tank, but thought I'd share anyway! This 10 gallon is home to my CFB newts :)

Its personal preference you could take the white thing out if you feel it would give more room, have you thought about pots with live plants in at all?
I thought about it, but Grendel is still pretty small and I don't want to put substrate in for the plants quite yet.
She seems happy and likes the rock as her hide.

Ah well dont worry then, axies are fine as long as they can walk around and hide :D

I have to say, I adore looking through this thread and seeing all of your guys' incredible tanks! You all have such beautiful set ups- I particularly enjoy the ones with plentiful plants and bright colors.

I'm a first-time axolotl owner now myself, it's been around a month now, and I adore the little guy (or girl, still slightly uncertain!) to bits- unfortunately, his tank is currently pretty bare. When I got him we didn't have a whole lot of money to spare- in fact, I no longer have a desk, since he took it over! Right now, though, I'm in the process of saving up to get him a, hopefully, gorgeous tank worthy of an axie.

Here's my little Mulder's rather dreary, unexciting tank right now. Hopefully soon I can spice things up in there a little!

Here's a pano I just took of my 55 gallon currently housing my 3 lotls. The decor is a work in progress. I need to buy a few more bags of river rocks and glass marbles (I've discovered the dollar store is great for these!), as well as some home made hides and shelves I've been looking into :)

I think the marbles are a bad idea personally. Your axolotl could swallow them and get sick/stuck in him. Just an observation,. -Seth

I understand the concern. I was torn between a proper substrate since everyone seems to have different opinions and I know gravel and sand are a huge no no- and bare bottom is just boring. I figured the marbles are heavy enough and they don't seem to be a bother when it comes to feeding time.

I haven't heard of sand being a no-no.......well yah I kind of have but I think its the best option in my opinion besides bare bottoms. You don't like bare bottoms?! I love bare bottoms because there is no cleaning the sand or anything like that, plus the worms cant dig in.
I just put some plants in a bottle or a tub with some sand. -Seth

Thanks Seth :) I'll look into the plant idea and maybe I will try adding some sand.

I know the tanks a bit small, but it's all I have until I can get the bigger one delivered, cleaned, and set up. The background is the view of Chernobyl's destruction of Pripyat. I know it sounds morbid, but the plants are to show that there's new life growing, just like in Pripyat today. Chernobyl loves swimming around his tank and I'm looking forward to getting his big tank in about a week :)

Quick question. I have a bare bottom tank, currently empty (yay construction so I get to restart a cycle!) but i had the 50gallon set up for a week before I had to drain it(yay waste of time!) lmao!
I am looking to get a heavily planted tank. I was also thinking maybe a riparium? Is that what it is called? When you plant outside of the tank just submergin roots? I have a pothos already in my tank, just a few clippings, i would need more "pots" to be at the top in order to put more.

I just would like to get nice tips for a nice planted tank with no substrate with plants that axolotls dont like eating! One of my lotls eats duckweed, java fern, hornwort

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
