Please post pictures of your tank!!

My 4ft tank. only 2 axolotls for now, got some more friends coming
im very proud of the terracotta pot castle i made for them, spent hours grinding away
any sharp/rough edges,

spent just as long smoothing out the broken jug ornament, that had all kinds of nasty sharp spots, but definitely lotl friendly now

Hey, i should be getting a new tank here soon and I am wondering if any of you have any tips to make it look beautiful but still not so much that its a pain in the behind to clean.

I plan on getting tons of plants for it(ones that puma wont eat -.-) and using the hides that i currently have in my tank.

Open to some suggestions to make it fun, nice and simple!

Work in progress, tank stand.
Main Display w/ external filter/sump/refugium & stand-alone fish tank. The sponge filter in the axolotl tank is just to help with some initial cloud, it will go back into the sump soon. I have complete build photos and details on my automation/plumbing if anyone is interested.

55 gal acrylic flat-back hex
--plumbed to--
20 gal Long (sump/filter/refugium)

20 gal Long (african cichlids)
--stand alone--

There are two pieces of advice I can give you drawn from my own experiences.

One: don't feed your axolotl pellets unless it's an emergency. They go EVERYWHERE. Seriously. A big mess to clean up every time you feed them. Try to feed them mostly earthworms. It's better for them anyway.

Two: when shopping for plants, make sure you go to a shop where they know their plants. Ask for plants that are
- sturdy (aka your axies won't be eating them so easily)
- have deep roots (or can be tied to some driftwood with fishing line)
- don't leave a big mess (some very fast growing plants also shed lots of dead leaves, I had some bad experiences with Anacharis... it left dead leaf fuzz everywhere)

When your tank is up and running, make sure to post some pictures :)

Here's my tank!

This post was for a post that was done by Snuffeleupagus in 2011, I thought that when I posted this after their post it would go right after it, I was wrong, sorry folks I am still new to this and still learning what all the icons mean.............................................................................................................................

I know this is an older post and photo of your tank, I just wanted to tell you how beautiful I think these set-ups are.
I wish I had that much talent
Just one question, the paint on the bowl with the luckey bamboo in it, wouldn't that be bad for the Axies?
Just wondering, I am still very new to this.

Here's my tank!

Very pretty!
One thing though: watch those pebbles/marbles you have in there. If they fit into your axies mouth, they may eat them, and it could kill them if they can't pass it.

and a tank I'm working on for the adults:

I love this tank.. This is a wicked set-up Can't wait to see what you come up with for the adults.........:smile:

My twenty long with two juvies, some white skirt tetra and a few neons. Don't mind the female Betta secluded in the top corner, she needed to get away from a nippy tankmate. This is a before shot. I'm expecting more plants so I'm going to move everyone for a few hours while I scape it out. I'm also expecting close to thirty red cherry shrimp. Hope you guys like.

Horrible glare, but you get the gist!

This is a 10-gallon set up, for one axolotl. In there, I have a 4" diameter 90 degree PVC section, an 8" diameter terracotta pot, two 6" diameter terra cotta saucers (one for a "feeding area", the other to add to the top of the little hide), a ping-pong ball to push around (which my baby does!), some silk suction-cupped reptile jungle vine to play/hide in and to break up the filter current, and two small plastic plants suction-cupped to the bare tank bottom. Hiding behind the silk plant at the very back is my little 6 inch baby (yet to be sexed/named).

Temporary set up. 30 gal. long acrylic. Plants, Shrimps, snails and 2 gold albinos. Will eventually be strictly for the inverts and plants. I have a new 40 gal breeder that has a bigger foot print and will eventually house all four of my axos.

Yea i took them out once they started growing pretty fast thank you tho :)

Just wondering Tess or anyone for that matter, Do your Axies like or use the floating log?? I have thought about these but have always shyed away because they float and are at the top.

Hey, really late reply, but my floating log stopped floating at the top after like 6 months, and now just floats like 2cm off the bottom (no idea why!). It looked cool at the top, but I only ever saw my axolotls land in it by chance once or twice, but now at the bottom they're in it all the time!

40 gallon breeder tank with new tahitian moon sand, just set up today. Used Prime as water conditioner. Any idea how long it will take to cycle? What levels I should watch for to know it is cycled?

How do you get into those bottom tanks to clean them?

I am really sorry to be the bearer of bad news and I know that sand cost a fair bit but... Tahitian moon sand is not axie safe. It has sharp shards in it and has been known to kill axies as it gets stuck inside them :(

Lovely tank though, sorry

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.
