Please post pictures of your tank!!

Aliwoo nice tank :) Unfortunately the plant in the front left is not a true aquatic plant and will die rather quickly causing water problems. Put it in a pot with some soil and it'll live :) Its annoying that lfs still sell them as aquatic plants.

thanks :), that's the one with the big leaves? if so that's one of the ones i replaced for some more elodea (along with the one behind it)

i know nothing about plants really, something i'm going to have to learn as i do like to have some real plants in there

Yes that's the one, the green and white one. You could also some hornwort, its really soft and fluffy, my axies love hanging out in it :) It grows as well as elodea.
I know what you mean about knowing not a lot, I'm redoing my six foot soon as a planted tank, its a massive learning curve. Have a look at the ukaps forums if you want to learn more :) Be warned, too much reading can fry your brains, lol!

Here's an updated pic of the big tank ^_^! It now has 7 'lotls... 1 of my juvies got big enough to add. Kitty eyed him/her up and you could see him sigh that the new addition was too big to eat ;)

Changed to black sand. It was quite the hassle, but so worth it. Also added some more plants, and a bunch of floaters.

My tank doesn't look good compared to your guys'!

I just got a bunch of plant clippings and since it was unexpected and I have a bare bottom(Well I have a very thin layer of sand just to give my lotl's some traction) So the plants have no been planted yet. I havent gotten to that part yet. but my two juvies seem to like it in there. :p It may not be very pretty!

I get my first babies tomorrow and I am SO excited!! I have a 40 gallon breeder. I've tried to set up plenty of hides plus a couple of multi-levels using suction cup shelves. We will see if they like!!!

Hi Tephra- I saw your tank and another had a lower water level than mine- I am planning on leaving top off and adding chiller fan set- dropped water a couple of inches bc I know they can jump. Should I drop more?

I think it should be fine.
I have a lid, so they'd never be able to jump out anyway. I lowered the water level more for the floating plants, so they wouldn't be too close to the lights.

Sorry to just jump in, but could i suggest you at least use some sort of mesh lid?
Axies really do jump and ive heard mine hid the lid a couple of times, i dread to think if it wasnt there and i wasnt in, they would just die on the floor, like a lot of people have experienced on here.
Also if you had a mesh lid, the water level wouldnt really matter, as they couldnt get out :D

It's a good idea- I have a metal screen I can cut and use for a top- thanks for recommendation!

Very cute and awesome tank - I love the suction-cup glass dishes! Where'd you get them from? Just in case you never thought about it, once your guys are bigger those rocks are going to pose a serious threat of being swallowed. Your leucistic is so adorably spotty!

Hey! They are plastic and are made to stick in showers to hold soap, shampoo. I was hoping rocks were big enough- will keep an eye on them- thanks!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
