My axolotl just laid eggs

Thank you, Digitalxri0t, for convincing me I should post on here!

She said this is the place to be!

I've been selling juvenile axolotls on craigslist but I haven't spent much time posting here. It's hard to find time, but it's fun to read about other people's experiences.

I'm mainly a fish person, but I'm loving my axolotls and I can't believe how prolific they are! I have 6 batches of babies growing out as we speak, about 100 per batch.

I raise them in a 900 gallon indoor pond. If that sounds like a crock, ask Digitalxri0t cuz she's been here a few times and knows my setup.

Where do you pick up the daphnia locally? Just out of curiosity.

In the Spokane area I often sell them. I always have tons in the summer because I raise them outside. In the winter I don't always have extra because I'm usually using all I raise to feed my aquariums.

Congrats on the eggs! Wow there's a lot of people from Spokane! I'm on the west side.

Margie got to it before me. She's pretty much the only one locally I think that has them lol, I guess even aquarium solutions gets hers from Margie.

I'll take some pictures once I get home, things have been insane and I have to take some pictures of the new babies Margie sold me so ill do that all at once.

For the record Margie's house is friggin awesome and this lady means some serious business when it comes to her stuff. I've spent way too much time in there and always fail to leave without something lol.

I was actually think about getting some babies from both of you haha, it's nice to see that you have a caudata account now :3 I was actually going to ask if you had one but forgot.

The excitement I've got is going to kill me! You people are going to take all of my money, I can just see it. Well, maybe not take so much as me desperately shoving it at you :p

Margies babies are always beautiful and healthy, it never hurts to buy babies from her. I bought a few today myself lol.

Haha welcome to the addiction, we're really terrible about it honestly. It becomes a really terrible addiction really fast but its a great hobby to be in! At least youre making connections here.

Also thanks to the wonderful Margie I was able to get some brine shrimp for my kiddos, talk about a hero.

I'm panicking. My little axolotls laid eggs out of the blue and they are already at the crescent stage of development. I cannot find a suitable food for them when they hatch. Any suggestions on what to feed and where I can get it. I'm so new to this any help is amazing.
Greetings,
very worried axie mom

If there's no local places to pick up food at your next option is to order them online. Willowcat knows of a site online that sells decapsulated eggs that hatch easy and I can get the link for you later on this evening. You've waited a little too long but you still have a up to three days after they hatch before they need to be fed. Try looking to see if anyone has local daphnia it's a slim chance but sometimes people do. There's also small foods that can be fed like vinegar eels and such

Quick update. We've had about 4 losses in total with the kiddos over the course of hatching, and theyre pretty much off brine shrimp and onto eating live black worms. I tossed a few in there with them last night just cause and they gobbled them up. I'm feeding them the last of the hatched out brine shrimp tomorrow and bumping everyone up onto black worms after that!

Horray! :D I started to set up my 10 gallon today in anticipation...let's just say the poo looking water confirms that I didn't clean the sand enough ^_^;

I can't wait to take some little guys home!

My friend is against play sand because it's notoriously horrible for not washing out. Hopefully it settles soon. If nothing else just remove most of it and leave a thin layer. That's all I do because they need something to grip but keeps the black worms from burrowing in it or just leave it to settle if you're using blood worms.
