My axolotl just laid eggs

No picture today, its been a long day and I'm tired from upgrading some of my juvies into a bigger tank. We found a hatchling in the adult tank that had somehow managed to survive. He's so tiny compared to his siblings. Most have nice bellies full of bbs and are completely content.

50 now with our little trooper from the adult tank. I figured pricing would be around 10-15 + shipping. Around spring is when I think Ill feel safe sending them out, I dont know if you want to wait that long but you're welcome to reserve one if you wish lol

I will just pick one up in a couple of weeks then, but who were the parents?

Mom is wild type gfp. Dad is either wild type or melanoid. They were sort of an accidental breeding.

Haha it would be a good name for him. If he makes it he'll probably be kept and Ill surely name him that. It's so easy to spot him from his siblings hes so much smaller.

If there is a big difference in size you should call him "hotdog", as he is going to be a snack. Separate him out if you want him to survive.

You wouldn't happen to be the breeder I've been speaking to on craigslist would you? :p

I'm thinking not though, seeing as how that person said they didn't have GFP and had 5 batches of babies going! I'll be in the market for a baby though, once my tank is set up they should be ready I would think. :D I would much rather come to someone on this site then some random person from craigslist or Northwest Seed & Pet.

Very cool watching them grow, I'll make sure to stalk this thread.

Wow, no, relax. He's only about a days growth behind the others, but I've been watching them so intently I can easily spot the difference in growth. He should be caught up in no time now that he's got food readily.

Also! No, but I happen to know both the breeder you're speaking of, at least I think I do. I've gotten axolotls from her, she's pretty fricken awesome honestly. Also Northwest is pretty good about their axolotls, I've taken several to them and both Terry and Chris know what they're doing, but the store itself always asks a lot for the axolotls :/ In fact the big wild type they have right now is one of mine I looked after. The two smaller wild types they have right now aren't up to their usual standards Ill admit but I don't blame them for taking them. Wow look at me trying to sell things for other people. I'd be happy to set you up with one of my kiddos. I can tell you right here and now it'll be healthy and happy and since you're in the area you are welcome to stop by to see them as they're growing if you don't mind a zoo lol.

Oooh I'm excited now! I'm so happy that I don't have to order online and pay for shipping/stress about shipping :3 My boyfriend is nervous about going to a stranger's house (can't say I blame him), so I may hold off on a visit for right now.

I guess I was just a little taken aback by Northwest because I went in there not too long ago and saw a luecistic that was in very, very bad shape. It wasn't the one on Division, so that may be a difference there. Seeing it like that made me pretty leery, though if it wasn't their fault then that's forgivable.

I completely know the feeling. I got my first ones off my now best friend and am thankful for not dealing with shipping cause it can end badly. That's perfectly fine, I don't like meeting strangers off online either cause there's lots of creepies all over.

That was one I had been fostering :/ he had started to make a good turn so I took him in but the trip did him bad and it hit fast with him. One of the guys brought him home and is getting him back to health now, I felt really awful about it honestly because he was okay for a day or two and then suddenly chunks went missing and the guys couldn't do a lot there at the store. But I totally understand where youre coming from. Sometimes the ones they get aren't in the best shape and plus sometimes theyre really expensive.

He's still alive? I thought he was dead! Poor little guy...I hope he pulls through, because those were exceptionally nasty chunks taken off of him. It makes me feel a lot better knowing that he's being taken care of and wasn't just left for dead.

If I can save $50 by getting one from you AND get to pick which one I want it'll be better that way. I'll have to get my bloodworms from them though, so they'll still get my money somehow :p

Anyhow, I'll stop stealing your thread xD Lets see some babies!

Deep cleaning day! They got "abused" and "tossed around". They were very upset over it lol.

Also yes he's alive and doing better. We found half the problem is he doesn't like any of the normal foods we feed aka worms an pellets just weren't appealing to him, he prefers feeder fish but the guy who has him is working him over to worms steadily and he's growing back nicely from what he says. I would much rather have mine bought lol I have 50 that will need homes in a few months. As a side note I feed mine black worms and will end up buying them in bulk here soon, they grow better on them so maybe we can sort something to keep yours fed on that instead lol

I also change my mind about not buying one. will just add another new member to my axolotl family. Could I also put a hold on "Trooper". I want to see how eggs developed in a tank rather than separate are any different to isolated ones.

They look GREAT! Keep the pics coming! they are developing beautifully and very fast too! I love to see the progression. thank so much for posting again! :D -Seth

I'll have to pull Trooper out if you want him, I wouldn't want him getting confused with one of the others once they start getting big but I don't mind doing that if you really want him.

No problem sde! It's a good way for me to keep track of the kiddos as well but I'm glad you guys enjoy the posts! It's amazing how fast they're growing, now that the window is shut I'll have to watch even more carefully.
