Here's my baby's tank, since he's so little he's in a small tank. Once he grows a little I have a bigger setup all ready for him :)

Hello everyone! I wanted to post up my current tank set up. It's a 20 gallon long tank with black sand. I wanted some opinions on how I can make this tank better for my two axolotls. Here's my tank..

20151227_081559_zpsqawpo0km.jpg

I was thinking more silk plants in the back? The two skulls are hollow so I'm hoping these are good hiding places. Or maybe I can find a little bridge for an extra hiding spot? Thanks!

Maybe if you got some flat slate rocks to pile around in interesting ways? Or maybe some more plants. I think axolotls enjoy exploring in/around different shapes and surfaces. Also, the skulls are a cool idea but only quite small axolotls would fit inside, I think? Being that Lotls are long!

This is my 540 liter tank. My 5 axolotls lives here. :)

My 180 ltr; filled due to Pinkys size (or lack of).

Brief explanation;

x2 filters (low setting)
x2 bubble makers/ sponge filters
Fake root
Fake tree trunk
Fake plants
"o's" for floor texture
Sprinkled Sand for texture
Pebbles
Moss balls
Smooth marble cave aka tooth brush holder
Slate tiled floor

Probably missed stuff from the set up. Also, Pinky eats from a bowl. Not sure how this happened but I fill the little bowl and she gets in it to eat.

If I should have anything else please let me know.

45l Tank too small? Advice please :)

Here's mine, it's a 45l tank. Filled to just under 40l. I had some drift wood peices in there before, and she enjoyed the hides, but I think she also felt a bit crowded (i.e. awkward moving around). She's about 11 months old and just touching 9" nose to tip.

Now I've lifted some stuff out, I feel like she's maybe too exposed? Is the tank a bit small?

She's been growing recently since being placed in here (~2.5months), which is nice but after discovering that she had a mild eye fungal/injury thing I've taken all the driftwood out (it was second hand, and I even though I bathed in in hot water and soaked it for a few days beforehand...maybe it introduced something unwelcome? I also put in the new tall plastic plant (one in the middle), washed it once in tank water - maybe that's evil too??

After a fungal/bactieral issue - do you treat any of your plants and decor?? like a seperate salt bath for them too?

Massive Thanks! - if you want to check out my posts of my Axie issue - go via my profile link or private message me.

Your axolotl looks HUGE in that tank. Maybe it's time to upgrade. As far as cleaning your decor, I used dilute chlorhexidine (it has antifungal properties) to clean decor after I had a fungal outbreak and it worked great.

Here is my tank. It's been set up for a few years.I just changed the plants in my bio filter from pathos and peace Lilly's to a snake plant and hens. The pathos and Lilly's were growing into my ceiling so I guess the filter works pretty good. Looking for some suggestions on sprucing up the actual tank. Does anyone have good luck with live plants? Can the axys handle flourish?

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
