Please post pictures of your tank!!

So just thought I would share a picture now that my tank is all set up and cycled and also wondering if someone could confirm my guess that both of these "guys" are actually guys and if the yellow guy is like a melanoid golden or something?

They do look like males in those pictures. There is no such a thing as a melanoid golden. Melanoids lack the shiny pigment and the yellow color is reduced in them (practically non existent as well). It could be a golden albino, but I can't tell from those pictures.

Are you sure about that? I actually just looked back at a post I made when I thought something was wrong with him cause he was getting yellower (I thought he was getting sick or something) and Margie (the woman I bought my guys from) said that it was possible he was a melanoid golden albino? I kind of forgot about that and it's not too important I guess I was just looking for confirmation (sorry if that sounded rude keiko, totally didn't mean to offend you)

Yeah they do look like males. And as far as I know, Keiko is right about there being no such thing as melanoid golden. I have never heard of such a thing.
Also, I noticed that you have on of those "Ammonia alert" things in your tank. The one I had in my tank didn't work, plus things like this aren't as effective as liquid tests. If you use both that's fine, but I would't rely on the "Ammonia alert" alone to indicate your ammonia levels :) Just wanted to give you a heads up :)

Not rude at all. :)
Well it certainly is not anything we call any color type here. There are melanoid albinos that can be slightly yellow (some xanthophores here and there). And we have golden albinos that are usually very yellow.

Seth: Thanks but yeah I bought the thing before I knew about liquid tests and stuff and I do have an api liquid test kit that I use regularly I just haven't taken that thing off because I'm lazy and if it does happen to work and something goes wonky with my cycle then it'll have been worth it right? lol but I do test with the liquid kit so no worries!

and thanks both of you for the input on my little yellow guy, the pictures weren't great, he looks pretty differently colored than the white albino there in person but oh well thanks again guys :)

That's exactly what I did xD I bought it before I knew that liquid test kits are better, and then just left in in there cause I am lazy and it didn't hurt anything. I may have just gotten a bad one anyway. It never changed color, even when the ammonia levels changed :/

Actually, there is such a thing as a melanoid golden. They have no iridophores and reduced xanthophores, so they tend to be non-shiny, pale goldens.

Even though they have reduced xanthophores, some specimens have enough to give them kind of a piebald coloration = yellow patches on a white background. But it's a more subdued yellow than on a regular golden.

Good to know, never heard of those before. What are the genetics behind melanoid goldens? We only have melanoid albinos that can be slightly yellow (since the melanoid gene still allows some xanthophores), maybe they're the same? When I hear the words melanoid and golden I think they're kind of the opposites - golden meaning a lot of iridophores and xanthophores, and melanoid completely without the iridophores and with reduced xanthophores - so sounds odd to me to combine the two. :D

Here is my 30 gallon tank a couple of months ago. I removed the sand but everything else loks the same. I am hopefully getting a 90 gallon tank from a co worker so I'm super excited trying to think about what I'm gonna do.

Hi, this is my first post here. My tank is currently cycling, hence the slight cloudiness. This is a 20 long with divider, I'm going to be getting 2 leucistic juveniles.

The bright pink plant on the left side is only in there temporarily. I put it in from my other well cycled established fish tank to help start the cycle.

My daughter put the labels on the bottom hehe...

This is my main axolotl tank which axi is in, stardust is currently too small to join her but we all know how quickly they grow. Shouldn't be long and they'll both be together :p I made the background myself and the sand fall. I will be selling 3D backgrounds soon. Sadly the sand fall doesn't work ( luckily I won't be selling them)it doesn't work as I got my measurements wrong  I'm going to be taking that out soon though as it's a bit pointless. Hope everyone likes my tank set up.

I always get jealous of other people's tanks. I don't feel I'm creative enough to have such beautiful tank landscapes and my lfs and local pet stores typically only have rough decor that would maybe be okay for fish but not for my axie. :( I did get him some silk plants though, and will be getting him some more when funds allow because I know he loves them. I've also got a background on my list of things to get (but the store never seems to have the ones i like in my tanks size). Ah well, here's my work in progress tank. :) Naturally I don't keep the room light on all the time, and the xmas lights around the window (which I have the blinds and curtains closed at all times to keep light out) have a very dim light that barely casts light into the tank by themselves (even though this pic makes them look brighter somehow).

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.
