Here are my three Axolotls!

The largest one is Ponyo; a 1.5 year old male luecistic. He's the largest one, with black eyes and red gills, shown in various ages.
Then I have Ruto, who is about 8 months old; female albino. She was quite underfed and wasn't provided adequate space before she came to me. She's improved a lot!
And lastly I have Nori, a two year old melanoid female. She was severely over bred her whole life and kept in the darkness. So her growth was very stunted! It appears her right arm was bitten off and partially grown back. When I got her she was emaciated, with her wounded, twisted arm, and bone exposed through a rotting tail :(
She's improved by leaps and bounds! Nice a plump, with feathery gills, and very interactive with me.

I had Ponyo from 2 months old; the other two were rescued recently.

All so cute! And Wooper was the Leucistic with purple markings? Sorry you lost him, he was definitely a unique fella.

Here's Flex, my melanoid juvie, flexing!

He disappeared without a trace the other day. Panicked, my bf and I started moving plants, hides, even looking around the floor to find him. Suddenly, he popped out of this little hole at the top of my root decoration! My other axie doesn't even know that place exists. Flex has his own penthouse suite hide :cool::cool:

I'm getting 'brainwashed'. I don't have axies at the moment but my dreams are constantly telling me to buy some again!

Maybe in the near future I'll have a bunch of them again.

I have just spent well over an hour looking at all the pictures.
Pictures of my 6.

Super cute! Love the tail stand picture!!!

This is Xol (Xolotl, after the Aztec deity). He's a former laboratory animal, and wasn't raised in very good conditions (hence the fungal patch on his face). I've had him for two weeks now, and he's made so much progress. He used to not know how to swim to the top of the tank because he was kept in very shallow water, and he's never eaten live food. He's so much stronger now then when he started. I'm so proud of my little salamander. This is my first axolotl (my first amphibian, actually), so any advice would be appreciated.

Wow! Such frilly gills. I haven't seen that before. I have two rescued Axolotls myself :) Although from neglectful owners, not labs. Nice to see people rescuing!

Plump little Ruto

Black as pitch, Nori!

Ruto & Nori were rescued. I thought it would be neat to set them in a shallow dish with white back drop. You can really see them clearly :)

Ruto, the day I took possession. She's small, and her front left leg is stunted from past injury. Versus a year later

Nori the day I brought her home. I was heart broken: her tail was half rotted off to the bone and her front left leg was mangled and stunted. Very under weight and stressed. She also has permanent grey splotches on her face - I don't know what from. A year later; nice and fat with a full tail and bigger arm!

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
