The Cute Axie Pictures Thread #2

*Noob alert*

Here's my first girl. Unfortunately she died very suddenly after a few months. I think it was a cycle crash. I still miss her.

Here's my new baby, Goldfinger. I'm looking forward to watching him grow up! (p.s. I bought a better water test kit and it's being checked every day!)

More pics to come! I've got another tank running, getting ready for another one soon. :bowl:

Hello everyone! I'm new here but I just received my new baby axolotl from Ashlimarie83 and she is lovely! Her name is Princess Bubblegum.

Introducing the new baby :)

One of my original axolotls, Chalchi, had an unfortunate USPS incident at the end of January (I rented him out for breeding and he got lost on the way back), so as part of the deal I struck with fellow forum member seagull, I was to get a Chalchibaby once they were big enough. Since Chalchi was a wild type and his sister Xochi is a melanoid, I decided to change it up and get a golden.

To continue the naming tradition started with Chalchi and Xochi, I originally picked out the Aztec food god, Tonacatecuhtli (Tonaca for short), which fit because the baby's mother is named Burrito and Chalchi was ginormous because I **ahem** fed him a little too much. In the meantime, my sister's friend, who had called my axolotls Salty and Chewy because she couldn't remember their real names, decided on calling the incoming little one Chewy Jr (even though Chalchi/Salty is the dad and Xochi/Chewy is the aunt).

So this is Tonacatecuhtli/Tonaca/Chewy Jr, with a bonus picture of Xochi. I just cleaned them and haven't put everything back in yet.

Axolotls are just so adorable! Thought I'd share a picture of my little wild type Dagon, he has a backwards front leg and he always seems to be giving a high five or brushing his gills :D.

He manages fine apart from some dodgy swimming!

Wow! Whopper is adorable and very unique. He looks like some type of crazy hypo wild...
Super light! I doubt he is copper because I can't see any pink tinge in the eyes...

Wooper looks beautiful. I like the name too. I nearly called mine Mudkip

Thanks guys! She is a little beauty and she was being sold the same price as the rest of the wilds so I think I picked myself up a bargain :p. Can't wait to see how she changes as she grows!

AristotleA, I was debating Mudkip to haha, axolotls are like real life pokemon :D

Does he have tank mates? He looks chewed up and thin. The substrate looks too small, easy to swallow. I try not to be 'that guy', but I'm not saying it condescendingly, just trying to help.

He came from a lady that was keeping him with 6 other axolotls in a stock tank, so now he is living alone and recovering. I have had him for about 11 weeks now. Trying to get him to eat more. The substrate is 1.5"-2" rocks. I haven't had any issues with him swallowing or trying to swallow the rocks.

My accidentally acquired girls (I think!) - Quina, the albino, and Vivi, who I think is a wildtype. They weren't in the best condition when I got them - kept on gravel (they're still pooping it out several weeks later), high current from the filter and as far as I could tell, no attention paid to tank chemistry. I'm a total newb to axolotls and had no idea how to care for them when they were given to me, so I'm massively paranoid about doing the right thing and making sure they're healthy and happy.

Here's Quina. She had a chunk bitten (I assume) out of the end of her tail recently. Looks a little red at the tip but it seems to be healing okay. I worry most about Quina as she's a bit smaller than Vivi and her gills still seem a bit curled - although that could just be normal for her.

Vivi is far harder to pin down in a photo. She likes to swim off whenever I try to snap her. She seems a little more chilled than Quina, I think, so I worry a bit less about her. A little bit less, anyway...

This is Xol (Xolotl, after the Aztec deity). He's a former laboratory animal, and wasn't raised in very good conditions (hence the fungal patch on his face). I've had him for two weeks now, and he's made so much progress. He used to not know how to swim to the top of the tank because he was kept in very shallow water, and he's never eaten live food. He's so much stronger now then when he started. I'm so proud of my little salamander. This is my first axolotl (my first amphibian, actually), so any advice would be appreciated.

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
