T.marmoratus vivarium construction.

Hello.

Badmungo:
Thats the plan for him, a large nice tank.

SnakeDancer:
Fun to hear that you like it so far.

lilacdragon7:
"Is there a profession for something like this?"

Yes there is a bigg market around the world for this i think, i know some good firms how does great background/waterfall, pounds, cliffs constructions.. among other. So were do you live? i can give it a try to find a factory close you.

Ingo:
Hehe damn right, this is not one of my fastes terrarium builds i must say, but i did put the first layer off cement yesterday. Today i will put the last layer and after start with the scrape and forming of the rocks.

Regards

Looking great! Can't wait for the finished project. I wish I was that T. Marmoratus. xD

Hello.

I startaed on this one day ago and i will finish the painting today i hope. So if i the painting goes as i want i might use it in the tiger tank, and for more deep i can build some stones and i litle pound maybe.

This was just a test but it went fairly well.

Very professional looking! I can't wait to see it all put together.

Uppdate.

Today the freezer and the pipes arrived, so i hope i can get to work with that soon, the probleme is that i must buy a wood plate to place my vivarium on before i can saw pipe holes.

I was lucky to get my hands on this small cheap freezer (53x48x49cm lxwxh)

And early this morning i went out to find some nice furnishing to the tiger vivarium and came home with this.

But im a bit concerned because of the spring weather, the temperatur is rising so i have on a time limit here. It is not a probleme for the moment but i have crisis budget..

Glass in place but not siliconed yet, i also coverd the bottom in the marmoratus tank with a acryl plast plate(1,2mm thick) so that should make it water prof. And the last thing i will do today is pull some layer with epotex, from the bottom and 15cm up on the walls. Later i silicone all joints(thats a vierd name, sound like, well you know what;)

I hope i did not post to many pictures.

And of curse im not finished with the pipes, all joints must be sealed and the rest insulate reliable.

This is coming along wonderfully congrats, you are doing a great job so far.

It is nice that i still keep you guys interested, and im fairly satefied myself:Dso far. But tomorrow the hard part begins with faux stones and background.

These newts will have a more comfortable home than I have.....can't wait to see the next stage!!!

Absolutely Great. The tank and all it's workings already look very proffesional- can't wait to see the finished result.
The fake rock background will definately be tough. I've had a go at making one for my Reptile tanks and it took alot of patience. Best of luck with it.

Thanks for the good feadback.

I have made some faux backgrounds in my hobby years, but this will absolutly be my biggest challenge so far! i belive.

Barry, just look at my pictures, does it seem like i got a well furnished apartment; ) The animal take my money, and always have hehe. So when this is finished i dont have more to spend on. I want fire salamanders but that have to wait..

Wow this is looking fantastic.
I have quite a bit of experience with sculpting polystyrene but never for use in a vivarium because of the problems of cementing and sealing it. I would love to try something like this.

I hope you will humor me by answering some questions.

What is the brand of cement you use?
What brand of stain or paint are you using to color the cement?

Have you ever used high density blue or pink foam (used to be used as housing insulation)? It's more uniform in density and easier to carve. I'm not sure it can be found as easily as it used to, it is no longer utilized in construction do to updates to the building code here in California.

How easy was it to cut into the freezer? I had thought about this as a cheaper alternative to an actual aquarium chiller but wasn't sure if it was worth the effort.

Hi.

Of curse i will answer your questions.

1) Buildcement standard PK skövde(swedish town) Cementa. Manufacture: CEMENTA Heidelbergcement group. MAXIT.

2) I dont mix paint in the cement, but i paint with colour powder after it has hadened that i blend with a product called Tapecrete who is a cement bound among others. Some zoo use this in thier terrarium and vivarium enclosures.

3) Yes 4-5times and it is wonderful to work with! i use the blue to this construction. My floor is full of blue foam for the moment hehe. I got seven plates in dimension 120x60x10cm, but i waste two plates today because of some mistakes, and they are expensive.

4)It was no problemes and it got done fast. I use a metal hole-saw that i conected to a drillmachine. Im not a technical guy, far from it ;)

Regards.
