Unfortunately all we can really do is educate the people who are willing to listen and take good care of their pets. Its too bad we cant take away their axolotl keeping privilages

That's an axolotl that's got bigger problems than the gravel. Kind of silly you chose that to argue about.

It's never silly to bring up the fact gravel is no good... I also don't see other major points of concern. It may be on the skimmer side and unattractive gills but some lotls just don't have long gills. It also doesn't appears like her gills are burnt or nibbled at.

Apparently ive been doing it all wrong. She is definitely implying this.

It makes me wonder if some people have access to completely different resources then me, or just plain ignorant about EVERYTHING around them.

unfortunately there really isn't much to do to help the axolotl. ASPCA won't really get involved unless its obvious animal abuse. Even though we know she's wrong, all we can do is educate people who want to know the right information. Her axolotl might die and then she might figure it out but most times people are just plain ignorant and stubborn.

I also like when people post on instagram and need to put in the comments "dont tell me how to take care of my animals. They are loved and cared for" as in many people have told her she was doing something wrong and she didnt want to hear it.. Axolotl was on gravel and definately did not look very healthy. I just kindly pointed out that because of that comment on the picture it made me think that she knew she was doing something wrong, and didnt want to listen or change it. She blocked me, never even got an answer. I didnt tell her how to take care of it. Gahh.

I try to avoid instagram for looking at other peoples axolotls(except for the ones I follow---stanley!) because it just frustrates me.

I sent a message saying to never take them out of the tank for a "walk". A fish can live out of water for 20 minutes but they aren't supposed to. I just want to slap people like this! Advertising like it's okay
