Egg-laying Documentary

**runs and stares at the eggs intently**

they actually are starting to look like jelly beans!!! O.O Some even have a little tail like end to them (maybe that will be the Tail!! lol).

I am so nervous!!!! You said we only have two weeks till they take over??? @_@ **gulp**

I used a zooming glass to see them better, and they seem to have some sort of folds.. Must be bodies forming! **fascinated** Being a woman, i just wish humans eggs.lol:p

Sorry, I meant, wish humans could lay eggs!!!! Was too late to edit my previous post.
But then again, would you want to have 600 babies at once?????

lol

Haha, might make the whole human birth process a bit easier, wouldn't it? (laying eggs that is, not 600 of them...) :lame:

You should check out John's excellent day-by-day account of egg development here, it's a very informative read!

Time for another pic! Nothing special, just shot this one today and thought it was cute.

Are you teasing us Frankie? Only half the picture can download ...or is that a problem my end? Anyone else having same problem?

MA

Only getting half the pic also, I so love all these pictures as they are similar in age to my guys and I cant get any close ups with my camera, bring on more pics;)please.

Hey Frankie,

I don't think that last photo loaded properly. Both, Ange and I, can only see about 4cm of the top of the photo, Angie is using Opera and I am using Firefox.

Some great photos you have in here, I hope a couple get considered for the calendar. Also thanks so much for the information on looking after the little ones and hatching the BBS, I'm forcing Angie to drink diet coke at the moment so I have bottles to build my hatcheries :D

Ma,

That youtube video is really good, thanks so much for linking it, I really like his suction cup seals - they worked really well in my little "test run" hatchery. And silly me for not even thinking of eBay for the brine shrimp eggs, we got ripped at the Reef shop near here!

D'oh! <grumble grumble stupid ftp stupid internets growl>
Right then, shall re-upload the pic tonight when I get home.

Dalabrae: You're very welcome, just don't kill Ange with all the nasty, nasty Aspartame :D
I'm going to put the pic of the little one with the brine shrimp in his mouth into the calendar comp. Poor old Mark A-T will be rightfully sick of me changing my entries so many times by the time it closes.

Frank, loved the last photo. Worth waiting for. What a cute smile. Apologies for the grumble but we all look forward to the next one.
You'll be pleased to know that my adopted babies are very happy in their new home. Feeding furiously on blackworms and brine shrimp and cohabiting beautifully with my other "Boof" babies. I will post a couple of photos soon. Trouble is my pics are not as nearly as good as yours.

Cheers
MA

Diet Coke is bad for you?

... oh well, I would have overdosed by now anyway lol

Frank, ur recent picture is Sho Cute :p Ours have developed even further!!! They are all white still, but we can make out little heads with little gills already!!! And little fins!!! I love axolotls!!!!! WHO says they are "grotesque"????? We have about a hundred squishy little cuties here!! **hearts**
I don't even want human children aymore! Gonna fill my house with axies...

**rights herself** ehrm.. like Dal was saying, we hope your pictures get selected in the competition!
I don't think our camera is as good as yours (if even anywhere nears).

So, what are you gonna do with all those eyes & gills around you? LOL How many are there?

Angie

Great News, MA!

Happy for your little ones! You had to adopt yours, did you? You got any left at the moment or did you find new homes for all?

:)

Hi Angie, yes I adopted mine from 2 caudata.org members, Boof and Frankie. Boof gave me 14 eggs and Frankie, 12 x 8 weekers. I lost a few eggs in the process and was determined to rear these gorgeous creatures. Many friends have put up their hands for some and I will keep about 4 I think. Mine are now past the bbs stage and I bought a 1kg lot of black worms which arrived yesterday from Beechworth. The babies are really enjoying them.
How are your lot going? Any hatched yet?

Good Stuff, MA!

Nah, ours haven't hatched just YET, but they about 80% are all shaped like axies finally. If they take two weeks to hatch, we should have first hatchlings around coming Wednesday. At the moment they are all oroginal egg colour (white, non-seethrough)... So we are still "sitting on the eggs" and waiting.

We have a few eggs that don't look like they will hatch (murky in color and more yellowish than others), but some are still white & round, so maybe they are a little late with development...

Maybe we will become proper ethical breeders who keep records of bloodlines one day not too far away..

The moment I saw these animals, I fell in love lol At the time, I had NO IDEA as to what it would take to keep them, let along how many babies they have! lol

We have back legs! Well, more sort of stumps at the moment, but legs none the less!

Yay!!!! They have legs!

So what it they are stumps!? They are, like you said, "legs" :) They are Monster's, aren't they???

Oh, my other half asks if you can take pics of Fungus! He's the only one who'se picture isn't up, isn't it? Whether it's here or on your profile, please let us know if he allows to photograph him.

Heh, true that. And they'll be stumps with cute little toes in another week or so :D

I did actually manage to catch a legible pic of Fungus, shall upload it to my gallery this evening.

Fungus is adorable! hehe

Both of our axies are light colored, so we are kind of tempted every time we see a dark one! BUT you can't have all of them.... unfortunately

Nice pics and great thread :)

This thread has left me in complete awe...
These pictures really help me appreciate Axolotls so much more than what I already have.

My work here is done...:D

A'ight, here's another one, to give a sense of scale. This pic was taken around the same time as the four in the previous post but I stuck my finger in with this guy so you can really see the size. My finger is rather magnified in this image, so scale it accordingly to a normal-sized finger (I'm not, in fact, some sort of strange giant with bratwurst fingers...)
