Little update on how the vivarium looks. They have never been so active as they are now in the new enclosure, a totaly new behavior. I see both out in the open many ours during the days.

"Shazz"

I use withe insulation foam plates, silicone and cocos on topp at that. After i painted 2layers aquarium varnish.

Looks fantastic!
You have some very messy little monsters there!

Wow this is inspiring! Please keep up the good work.

Thanks.

Today i have bought a aquarium air pump to prevent stationary water in the pond.

Aw...they look so adorable and happy in their home. And that vivarium is so awesome! :) Great work!

Thank you =)

Some changes have been made because of an invasion off so called "flower flies". They are da*n anoying! and 100 off them in there, So i decided to clean the cage, replace substrate and unfortunately use artificial plants this time( have a order on the way with nice ferns) From all moss/plants from the woods i have never got anything before, but thanks to those new ferns i did, and i know i wount get ridd of them that easily.

So i thrown away most of the substrate exept the dry coco bricks, and some leafs wich will stay in the oven some minutes and then in coold water. Now 2days later i can only see some here and there, but most is gone.

At the same time i also decided to fix with light in the tank, they are in a plastic box for some days while drying out the terrarium. I saw a hole with demension 90x13cm on the roof, siliconed a glass stripe over so that light can be placed outside with a strong fan in front of. No unnecessaryheat from fluorescent, and hopefully no need for cooling during winter with 18-21 degrees in here.

The only tool i could do this with was a food knife, a hammer and a screwdrive(all i had) It toked me about 3ours and was alot of work, But what a knife!! I need to buy me some working tools!

Aquarium varnish have to dry 4 more days before the tigers can move back in.

As fast as those flies are gone (if ever) i can decorate with moss, and probably small ferns if i can find some close looking to the artificial.

The worlds happiest Salamanders!

It's a very beautiful setup you got there:D I was woundering, since you got the Tigers, if you were going to take the time to make a similar vivarium for any other Salamanders you might have? I think that some fire slalamanders or, if you'r lucky enough to get a few, some Dicamptodom like the Pacific Giant Salalmander.

Again it's a very good set up.

Thank you Kevin:D
For the moment the terrarium looks kind a boring thoug, only moss as those ferns died after a while. But in spring i will furnishing it up a little.
IWell, i only have Cynops ensicauda popei. But i have planed to build a lansdscape over the past 4month now, in a costume build 95x60x47cm lxwxh tank that reacently arrived.
Probleme is i dont have a good place to build this time, so i dont know how to do for the moment. Actullay i have to decide today if i only shall build a simple landscape, or just use "boring" driftwood/moss untill next year. hmm:/

Well if you don't have somewhere inside you can do it you can always make a covered area outside and make it there if you got the space and the weather permits

Build outside in this village dont seem like a pleasent option, and i dont know any good spot were i can sitt a few days. So i decided to go with driftwood, great stuff and silicone/cocos. It`s the easiest and fastest way=)

I bought 2 pieces driftwood today.Largest is 59cm long and will be perfect as land part But i still need 2-3 cans of great stuff to start, so i shall try to get some tomorrow.

no acctually it's was something simmilar to a nickname that I aquired about 10 years ago. it wasn't until I got really interested with Reptiles and Amphibians that I realized I'd stolen the name of a AWSOME monitor lizard :)

Kind words:) I think they do just fine in there. Though it looks boring for the moment without any ferns, only moss and leaves. But that i will fix soon.
