Photo: So just re done my setup

! I seem to remember they also said to me quote!! " axolotls are boring you know all they do is sit on the bottom they cant swim or anything"

I assume that these Axies didn't cost an awful lot of money and they were going to suggest to you something a little bit more expensive?? lol I just assume that would be the case as I have had that happen to me before where i said i wanted to buy something and was told to get something else lol

Thats a pretty standard retail price. You guys just get spoilt when people sell them on here for £5 or give them away.

Nope I have seen them in shops before now for £10 ea but haven't seen them at all lately! lol

So glad to hear that you removed the plec. They seem harmless but pose a huge threat! I feel like one that large would almost be able to suck their skin right off!

Also, the changes you made to your tank look great! They have lots of floor space, nice hides, and plants to sit in. That all makes for happy axolotls. What are their names?

Prices vary, just checked a couple of wholesaler price lists , 3"-4" wildtype axolotls are £7-£9, other morphs can be more expensive, retailers will bump the price up by 200%-300%. If they are for sale at £10 each they are probably sourced off private sellers for cash and wont be going through the books for the tax man to take his cut.

Here is a other nasty example of how it can go bad with pleco's x axolotls.

This pleco had a bad day so he desides to nibble on the skin of two axolotls. The result with not so good hygenes was a nasty under skin infection. The wild type what was not healty at the start died (no wonder when you see the pictures. The golden nearly escaped from death by the help from the forum members.

The cure whas baytril for people who whanted to know.

Well i went and made another mistake the hides my other half bought were wooden reptile hides and started to grow a mould/fungus so i removed immediately! Have replaced with 2 terracotta plant pots :) hoping for better luck with them..

My plec i loved but love my axies more .

They love the plants often find em fighting with them haha amusing lil things.

They dont have names as of yet :( still thinking xx

I'm so glad you removed that plec and that your lovely axies are not safe :)

And, to finally get the threat back on track, I think your tank set up is lovely (aside from what's been said about the deep sand; It still looks great!)
