well what do you think?

Got my 2 about 3 weeks ago same colours also. They look just like mine. So i'am going to say that they are vary cute. I would keep a close one the fish to make shure your new little guys don't get picket on. Have they eaten yet mine love frozen blood worms. Have named them yet. What are the floating plants?

All the floating plants are water sprite. THey are great becuase they enjoy floating at the top and block the light for the axolotl.

I bought the sprite from here
http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=822
No snails with it either.

The plants on the bottom are from walmart that just come from bulbs.

The wild one is eating due to his stomach is big now and he was skinny as a rail.

The albino i fed him a worm but the worms are just to big even cut in half so im gonna let him find the pellets at night time, if he doesnt eat those or the fish he is gonna die.

As for the fish, i been watching for a while, the fish seem to be 100% blind to the wild axolotl. As for the albino i seen him get nipped once on the foot.

I think the fish are gonna be a problem for the albino if he doesnt grow fast. At a big size when those fish get near they are food but at his size they are not too scared of him.

i would`nt keep all them fish in there if i was you because i had two loache in with my axies (what were a lot bigger than yours) and they both ended up getting nearly all there gills bitten off and got very stressed.

Just a thought try the frozen blood worms my white one (casper) is a little smaller and bullies the wild (beef cake) out of the way to eat. Maybe Niles can tell you what they were feeding them. I'am not shure but I think the fish you have are tropical if the water is warm your babies might not want to eat. Thanks for the link. Are you happy with them?

There is no heater in teh tank, the tank is room tempature. Wich is bounceing between 68-70.

Nothing i can do about the water temp.

The wild is eating and has eaten for sure, the albino i will find out tonight by looking at his stomach.

The albino did try to eat the worm it just proved to be to big.

Im hopeing the axolotls eat most of the fish off any ways but right now it wont be a possiblity. I didnt realize i would get them so small.

So error in my quest, i assumed they woudl be like 5 inches or so and they woudl be eating the fish, but not at this stage.

you white axi isnt albino, albinos have gold eyes and red eyes yours is an normal black eyed axolotl carnt pronounce the proper name

yeah i just call it albino becuase its easyer. I think the proper name is Melanoid? not sure.

cute looking axolotls, i love it when they are that small. I wish there was a mini axolotl that would stay that small :p I have two goldens about that size.

I dont know why you want our axolotl to eat all those fish, those are beautiful looking fish. It would be really cool if axoltol can be kept with fishies, but it just doesnt work like that. Its like keeping rats with snakes-even though the snakes can eat the rats, when the snake is resting and not hungry the rats will nibble on the snake and harm him.

yes it´s the same.
no fish with axolotls

annMarie Genovese do you have msn and an email adres?

Once the fish are gone, thats it.

It will most likely be shrimp farm time after that.

Almost all of those fish are breed from a few fish, i waited a long time to let the tank fill up hehe. As for why do i want them to eat them? goal was to have a self sustaining ecosystem but it just wont ever happen i have to get over it.

Both the axolotls started pencil thin and are now rather thick so they are eating fish or pellets, one of the other, i dout they are filling up on sand.

Oh yeah let me add this, my dad says i am a very sick person and am going to hell to raise those fish from nothing just to have them be food.

After quite a bit of stareing i watched the little wild tumble into the bowl suck up one pellet and eat then leave.

I have to say this is better than TV.

I think im in the clear and every one is gonna live quite healthy.

No, you are not going to hell or any other theological or mythological place for people who are concidered "bad" and there is nothing sick about raising your own food for your animals. Many people raise their own food for their animals, It is more economical-and one knows what is in the food. Usually when people raise food, it is grown in its own tank, usually species only and usually doese not consist of fancy guppies and mollies.

You can always sell the fish, for many people state problems with fish feeding of axolotl, especially if the fish is alive. Axolotl are quite slow and lazy so if you planned on Mr. Axolotl hunting down their fish, it just will not work like that. Maybe he will get lucky once or twice. As for axolotl in a self sustaining ecosystem, they need a lot more care than that. It is hard to reproduce a system such as that in a little 20 gallon tank. Even in larger man-made ponds, it takes time for everything to get settled and things do change. Well, you did set up a nice tank and you are using plants and it looks beautiful. Shrimp farms are fun, and is a bit safer than fish with axolotl. Just keep an eye on things, especially with the fish.

for the record if you have not noticed Platties and Guppys sleep on the bottom of the tank and dont move.

At night time whos out and about? thats right MR axoltol and he dont care that theres no light.

Axolotl is fish eating machine.

well in my opinion you should not have guppies with your axies, cause they tend to mistake axies gills with bloodworms,so they bite them and ....that will be bad for your axies don you think?
