My axies bred!

what happened to the others alex ? My ex's have bred again too ... they are around 10 days old now - and this time seem to be doing much better than the first lot ... :)

I was hoping he would offer to let me look after some as he said he would last time - but he didn't :-(. I am also still looking for a golden axie !

the other ones eventually just deteriated.

. i think because it was the axies first time that it didnt produce much but this time im just amazed at how many there are in the tank!!.

the eggs are growing very well. i can see the shape of the axie starting to form. iv taken about half out to raise and left half in for the adult axies to eat.

Hey Alex, congrats just read other thread that one of your eggs had hatched, hope u have better luck this time!

thanks kapo, about 30 have hatched now and they all seem very healthy!

. having a bit of trouble hatching the brineshrimp but hopefully they will hatch soon so i can get sum food in these babies. if you would like a few then id be happy to give them to you free. a bit dissapointing that they are all wild type...

3 of the babies are lying on there sides and the rest are sitting up right. is it normal for them to lie on there sides?. they all seem to be swimming normally and no sign of fungus or anything...

im having trouble seperating the eggs and egg shells from the brine shrimp, anybody no how i could do this effectively?.

There are good instructions there on hatching brine shrimp at http://bigapple.uky.edu/~axolotl/brinehatch.htm - there is a link from the rearing section of the axolotl web site. It suggests the shells will float to the top and you can harvest from the bottom. I haven't tried it yet and hope it works. I have eggs due to hatch in about a week so will start raising the brine shrimp soon. If you find something that works please post it so I can do the same

k i will do that, im just being very cautoius that i dont get any eggs in with the babies because if they eat them then they will die.

Hey Alex how are the babies doing? Thank you for the kind offer, but we have more than enuf at the moment! Hubby is too soft hearted and the last few months have acquired adult axies that others have lost interest in! Our house seems to be shrinking with the acquisition of tanks and axies.

same experience here.....my brother is always wanting things like axies and newts but I always have to deal with cleaning the tanks and doing the daily stuff that a caudate owner would do......but he claims that they are still his...right know he has 2 axies,1 female tiger sal (which by the way he gave to me)and he has 1 alpine newt.....lots of work for me....

alex glad to hear about the babies i was reading up on axies and on a site it says that they can have anywhere from 300 to 1100 eggs altogether, wow imagine that

its been a week now since the first baby axie hatched and so far no deaths and they are all eating the brine shrimp!.

That sounds good! If all continues to go well, you should advertise some of them in the for sale part of caudata (sorry still can't figure how to post one of those links! )

awwww i so jealous......what colours are your axies? the only ones we can get here are albino im going to look about to see if i can find somewhere that does them in a different colour.
axies are the best

Go to the section with the for sale, trade give away for your country. Click on add new thread link on the page just like you were starting a new thread. Enter your post. It will not appear right away as all for sale, trade and give away ads have to be approved by a moderator. Once it is approved it will appear in the correct section.

i have about 10 babys that are genetically mutated. the axies that bred were bought from the same pet store, do you think they were inbred?.

alot of the shipments that come into LFS are from the same broods, could be the same here. unless they continue to be inbred problems shouldnt show up
