Little quiz

11-A annulatum
17-A. maculatum

or the other way around....

17-A annulatum
11-A. maculatum

wow! that took some time, i can't believe that no-one got the maculatum till now!!!!!!!!!!!!

maculatum is 11.

btw, if anyone is scratching their heads over the strauchii, it's the gold dust morph.

Of the 8 species yet to identify, 1 is Rhyacotritonidae, 1 is Hynobiidae, 1 is Plethodontidae, 3 are Ambystomatidae, 2 are Salamandridae.

Of the 8, 2 are Asian and 6 are North American

Of the 8, 1 is a juvenile, 1 are in breeding dress and 6 are normal.

Of the 8, 2 are pics of tails, 1 is in the tail/abdomen area and 5 are of the body.

Here are some of my guesses

16 Plethodon wehrlei
21 Plethodon oconoluftee (or another slimy ?)
32 Lissotriton vulgarus male ?
35 Red eft ?
43 gold dust Neurergus strauchii or Salamaandra bernardezi (would bet on the first since it looks quite corrosive)
47 Belly of Cynops pyrhogaster or tail of a male Pachytriton brevipes
48 Rhyacotriton ?

Tood bad I only found this mail right now ....

35 is correct, it is a red eft (notophthalmus viridescens.

48 is a rhyacotriton, but which species????

Alright, I'll resort to guessing. Is 20 maybe a juvenile aneides aeneus? Or rare adult, maybe?

no, sorry

i think you need some more help here...

there are three ambystoma, 1 salamandrid, 1 hynobiid and a US plethodontid

10.Ambystoma mabeei
16.Ambystoma laterale
17.Ambystoma maculatum
20.Aneides aeneus

20. Aneides flavipunctatus (juvenal)

21 - Plethodon Variolatus? Or Maybe Ambystoma Mabeei?

16 - Plethodon Albagula?

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
