Pics of Nerodia with no smell-o-vision just don't do them justice, Cam.

Meh, thought I'd join in all the fun. Here's me, catching a 23" grouper off the coast of Florida.
Not quite sure how I made that face...I'm not exactly photogenic material.

my brother sent me this; apparently this is me, aged 4. You can see I started life well enough on a healthy diet. By the ugly wall paper you can date this to ca. 1971.

The good news is that I was already a seasoned newt catcher at this tender age. There was a pond in the chicken farmer's backyard next door that had alpine and smooth newts, and that's where you would find me when not chained to the kitchen table wearing a silly dress.

PS: Yes, I know I was cute; everybody is cute at that age. It didn't last...

haha, no doubt! Fortunately their musk is so distinct you should be able to imagine it XD

That particular nerodia left 5 teeth in my finger over a month ago. Still trying to get the last one out.

wow, nice fish!

I got musked pretty good once, and my YCC kids refused to let me get back in the truck until I scrubbed off in the pond. We rode home with the windows down. Truck stunk for weeks.

Mmmmm...the sweet, sweet smell of natricinae....

Thought I'd join in the fun! Always nice to put a name to a face..

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
