Eggs (have moved it to here - just realised was in wrong place)

I bought my Axolotls off an online bidding site similar to Ebay. The guy selling them had about 2 lines of info on them and that was it, I just traweled the net for the next week researching them. Any person who purchases an animal and is serious about it's welfare would find out as much as they could about it.

She probably just wants people to get an idea of what an adult Axolotl looks like, after all you can't tell from looking at their eggs.

I personally wouldn't really mind. It's on the internet, what are the odds that Jenny and the person who made the photo are in the same country? The person who made the photo could live in like Columbia or the Maldives where it may, in fact, be legal.

You have to understand that people go to big lenths to take photos of there axolotls and for someone to use the photo to get money in my mind is out of order.

John has had his photos used in many books etc, all you need do is ASK.

At the end of the day they are someone else's photos, yes she may have said they are not hers but you have not even given the people that own them credit.

For me its not the selling of these eggs as such, its the money you are making out of them, and the care information you are not giving to the person buying them Jenny.

Yes they can search the internet for details, but you should at least give them more details, some people I know only know how to look on ebay and check there emails. You cant expect them all to find the information for there selfs(no matter how many book shops or libarys there are).

I dont keep posting more just to make you feel bad, small or anything else, I do it because I want you to learn by this experiance. But I dont think this is working, as you dont see what is wrong or other people views

To me it seems you are only doing this to have a go at me. your just finding other reasons to have a go at me. if i used my own pics you would still be going on that i am selling them on ebay. i realise i shouldnt have used someone elses pictures but i am unable to put any of mine on and id rather put a pic on than not and i have stated these arent mine.

And this time of selling eggs i am doing it to make money so i can buy shrimp equipment so i can feed my baby axolotls that i keep. but so what if i was doing it to make a pure profit. i dont have a problem with this and would do next time. pet shops do this. and some of you say you dont agree with pet shops because they sell animals without proper care. but do you still go in there and buy your axolotl pellets or other food for other pets you may have. and do you view your concerns to the pet shop and the rspca?
i feel i have given rather enough info including a website with lots of info including raising of larvae and shrimps and when the axolotls are fully grown. but next time i will make sure i spend longer writing proper information about them. Plus my own pictures. But i still think that i have given enough info already.

What other reasons have we given you, they have stayed the same through out this thread....

If you read on of my other posts you would have noticed that I said I know 4 pet shops that give GOOD adivce on the animals in there care.

I also dont buy food from pet shops, I have 2 suppliers for worms, pellets and any other frozen or live food.

If I have concerns about the care of the animals in the shop be sure I would be giving them advice on the care of them or giving them info on where to find it.

I think there is no more I can say on this subject due to that you wouldn't even consider taking others advice on the matter. And you have clearly shown that no matter what we say or do you will carry on in your ways.

Im very sad to say that every time to DO try and help out that you refuse it. You may not see it as help, but I can assure you it is, and as I also said im my last post im not out to have a go or anything, but I want to express my feelings and how people feel about this.

did i ask for your help though.

did i tell you i was selling them on ebay?

There are different views from people in this forum. some people have said it isnt that bad me selling them and some people have said it is. why should i go with what you say over what someone else says?

i didnt say i wasnt selling them.

(which technically im not because they have all been sold)

I said did i tell YOU i was selling them. Meaning did i ask you for any advice to do with me selling them on ebay.

OK I thinks it's time to bring this thread to a close.

Jenny you have axies you are at liberty to do what you please as long as you don't break any laws.

That doesn't mean that others (myself included) will support you at every turn certainly on this topic it has fueled considerable opposing view points. Please respect our right to put them and to try and dissuade you from this action...This an open forum and one that will allow all arguements or discussions to be made.

You have done what you wish but in doing so I think you have upset a few people. Others seem to be ok with it. Some are more concerned with other issues bound up with the whole ad in ebay.

I hope that the eggs you kept for yourself survive and make it. But I hope that when the time comes to let them go you do it in a different fashion.

Unless anyone has a radical or major contribution to make an I request that we allow this thread to finish. What's done is done...until next time ;-|

Okay. I am fine with the fact that everyone has an opinion and the right to view that opinion but i dont appreciate being harrased about it when i didnt bring up the topic. and people against the idea of it seem not to take into account other peoples views and just think they are right.

Personally i would rather sell the baby axolotls i kepp on ebay than to a pet shop because i dont know of any pet shop that would give good information to the customers and in me selling them i can make sure i give as much information possible because people are likely to read it. and also if they go in a pet shop they will impulse buy where as if buying online you are more likely to search the net for other info to.

but ok. topic closed.

It probably would've posed a lot less controversy had you posted an advertisement here and suggested a trade, axie eggs for shrimp hatchery equipment, or something like that.

And as for the impulse buying, it happens everywhere. Hell, I just impulse bid (on eBay, mind you,) for a set of five Britney Spears dolls. I don't even like Britney Spears.

It's just a suggestion, but maybe when you ship off your eggs, write up a little caresheet and ship it with them? It'll show the buyers that you care about the welfare of the eggs and it'll help them raise the larvae.

i will. and i have also emailed them each individually asking them to look at a site i suggested plus extra sites they can find even though it says it on ebay for them to. im sure some of them will find there way here...
