My axies are agressive to me !!!

Don't know if I'm correct but I know snakes can associate you with food and resulting in snakes striking at the owner. My cousins axolotls as soon as something moves in the tank they become much more active.

my axie agressive whenever i put my finger on top of water they jump unto it and bites me! maybe axolotls are really like that?

They're not "aggressive" really, they tend to snap at anything that they could possibly consider food. That includes fingers/a hand. I suppose a moving finger just looks like a giant worm to them :p

My axies snap at my fingers all the time. Once they realize that my finger isn't food, they just sit back and I can ever so slightly stroke them with one finger. Or let them crawl onto my hand.

You shouldn't worry about them behaving like that. If they would be aggressive towards each other, that would be another story. In that case you'd have to separate them.

my axie bit me and ouchy because i hand feed them always >.< they think im a worm full of food!

Mine bite me when I'm feeding them. Sometimes they manage to suck down my fingers, but they let go ... eventually

To be honest, I would rather that they bit me than they bite each other :frog:

yeah they accidentally bite each other sometimes , when i placed another axie(the big one in video) the small one keep biting him , and lost a limb but it regenerated and also they stopped doing it now and became friends and also what does it mean when they go top on each other?

I couldn't help but notice the smaller axolotl in the video. Watch that the bigger one doesn't try to get the little one cause with that size difference he could easily take off an arm or leg.

I have 4 axies of a different size... two young juvies, and two almost-adults. They don't harm each other at all (but they're in a nice large tank with plenty of hides). In fact, they actually seem to enjoy staying close to each other.

The only thing that happens is the occasional snap at each other when they get food and try to steal it from each other (I try to prevent it when I can, but it still happens lol). So far though, no damage has been done :)

yeah they do that and also when i introduced my other axie , the old one keeps snapping up the new one and lost a limb and tail , but it regenerated!!:blob:

Also, axies aren't that friendly and interactive (unless you have food ;) ) so dont expect a pet that will sit on your lap and watch tv with you.

My girl Sally is like that too. You would swear that she is going to take off your finger. They just think that you are food. :p And when they do bite, it is more of a tickle than pain. I always play around with her like that by letting her bite my finger. I don't know if that is weird or not, and if anyone else does that too haha. Once and a while, Sally will not see my other axolotl Salazar come near her, and give him a quick "what is that?" kind of nip. Other than that, they get along just fine though. :)

When mine bit my fingers, they really go for it. Shaking their whole bodies side to side trying to rip off my finger. Then they sulk in the corner cause I wasn't as edible as they first though.

Once, when I was hand feeding one axolotl, the other sneaked up and bit the inside of my arm. It drew a tiny pin prick of blood, but because of their cute face, I forgave her :D

I call them ninja bites & it's hilarious when I get 'attacked' :)

The reality is... You are never going to be harmed or damaged by such a bite, so either chill out & get used to it!
Or.... Stop putting your hand in the tank!
Simple really! Get some reptile feeding tongs if you're too scared of being bitten again!

Problem solved!!! :D *thumbs up*

PS: I really hope you have bought a test kit to check your water parameters!! :-/

When I'm feeding my lotls, I have the food between my index finger and my thumb, the axolotl comes over to investigate, strikes, totally misses the food and ends up latching onto another finger. And that's when the violent trashing starts.

If it's a good day, the other one will join in too ;)

But seriously, it's ok. I love hand feeding my axolotls :D

My female has become rather aggressive recently, (probably something to do with having all her eggs stolen last week!). The worry is that Aristotle, the 'uncle' she is in with is suffering too.

The day before yesterday there was an open wound on his left foreleg that looked bad but started healing nicely already. My PVC pipes had moved, which is unusual but not unheard of, so I thought maybe he'd banged into it hard, caught an end edge funny or something.

Then today his back right leg is pointing upwards (well, flat out) and his toes don't look great. There's also an Axy-mouth shape missing from the tip of his tail.
I can only guess it's mum doing it, but I haven't witnessed anything.

I was going to separate them anyway, just not yet. Dad looks fine, but mum looks as peed off as an Axy can. I think its her that has to move out, but where can I put her, the bath is already full of last year's kids!

i dont think they look like they are being aggressive i think they were startled and jumped by the sudden movement of your hand in the water unexpected.also maybe your finger had the food scent on it and they were actually after the food not you
