Yay! No more gravel.

do they all get along together with having so many in there. i would love to have that many! how big is your tank?. does it get dirty quick?. lol so many questions i only have one female at the moment but i want more! axolotls are so kool.

It's a bit naughty but I have a 4 ft tank - max capacity is 8 according to axolotl.org. They all get along really well, so long as I keep them well fed!

I'm registering some nitrite problems now because of the substrate change but normally water chemistry stays balanced with weekly water changes.

The eight I have is six offsprings from the two original tank mates.

wow. i have just got a male to go in with my female. and after 2 hours he is starting toleave spermatophore's everywhere! u would think he would have waited a while. how often do urs reproduce. i dont want this to happen too often. so im thinking of getting a male tank and a sepperate female tank.... do u let urs breed?....

i havent seen all this before so im so excited about it...its cool. but im a bit worried for the female she is getting a bit pushed around...

Don't panic - just sit back and watch the show!
If she picks up the spermatophores, you'll get eggs in a couple of days. Make sure there's lotsa plants or other surfaces for her to lay on because I'm telling you right now - the less contact you have with these disgustlingly slimy creations the better. Can you tell I don't like em (the eggs, not the axies)

Mine generally only reproduce once a year but some peoples axies do it fairly often I believe.

lol. yeah i hope mine dont do it too often. but after only 2 hours togehter?!..lol i hope its not going to be a on going 'trend'. lol

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
