My first of about 80 hohgkongensis eggs has hatched! The baby is absolutely beautiful, with yellow eyes and gills. I had moved the eggs into fish hatcheries in the parent's tank tonight. Possibly the warmer temp. in there triggered it off. I have put some daphnia in in case he's hungry-I think i'll steer clear of BBS, as I don't want to foul the water.

Paramesotriton larvae may hatch at different stages. Don't worry about feeding for the next few days if your larvae still have a yolk-sac as they will feed "internally". Just make sure the Daphnia are small enough for your larvae to devour when they are ready for external feeding. Later on they will also feed on bloodworms, white worms and Tubifex. Warty larvae also love (!) to take cover in thick vegetation. A clump of Java moss always worked fine for me.

Thank you Ralf- I'm sure I'll be looking for more advice as the babies develop. The eggs were laid by two separate females over a three week period, so I'm expecting some of the babies to take longer than others.
