Hmm, I should have said an accepted practice when studying development (thats what I get for typing before the caffiene gets going) as the life span for the animal is not taken into consideration in those studies.
Now with respect to my comment on survivorship, this would have to be a quantified study to ensure that the correct dosages were administered as opposed to simply triggering them to metamorph....
I must admit, that I found the idea of injection being potentially a cruel method to administer the hormones given that this is an accepted method to administer antibiotics to amphibians and fish a very odd leap of judgement...
