Hey Guys,

Just received some eggs today from ebay, however most of them are a bit cloudy in the middle and some are huge. Last time I raised some from eggs I lost quite a few as they went kinda cloudy and I'm hoping these done. Could it be fungus in the eggs or something?

i also got some eggs off ebay melanoid/wild and mine are in the same shape has yours not really sure if they will hatch

I think some will, but I just don't want to loose a good percentage of them again.

mine dont seem to be developing right

That looks normal to me, apart from the cloudyness. Could do with some opinions for the experts though!

Regarding the first pictures of the eggs, many of these will not develop . I wonder if they got too warm in the post? I would remove the ones that look big, keep the rest on a cool spot and see if there are any changes.

When you say many, do you mean the big weird eggs?

Hey
Those cloudy ones look dead already it looks like the embryo inside has dropped.
I would just remove any that look dodgy.
What do you mean by big weird ones?

Mel

I'm beginning to think this was a waste of £10 :(

Look at the second pic, see the big eggs compared to the little ones? that's what I mean, I've split them up now though.

I haven't tried axie eggs but I have raised A. maculatum eggs and the ones that looked similar to your "big weird" eggs were no good. The ones with the small dark spot you can see rather clearly look fine though so don't give up all hope.

Don't give up, your weird ones are probably duds, but if you are not sure, put them in a separate container and see what happens. When I raised eggs , these tended not to be viable.
As the weather is rather warm, do keep an eye on the water temperature.
Even if you only end up with one axolotl, it will be £10 well spent.

Yeah thats why I removed them, thanks for letting me know exactly what they are!

Oh I won't, especially if they are melanoid babies! Even if one survives it will be worth it, then id give it to Mel :p

stephs eggs look like they are developing so hers may hatch.

best of luck to you both.
looks like you both have gotton eggs from the same seller of ebay,

Yeah we have, but Steph's seem to be developing while mine are not, could that mean mine have had it?

Argh, I wish they would start developing already.

hi
im having no luck wih mine either the couldlyness as gotton worse and the ones that did look like wore developing have a weird redness to them like they are bleeding never seen that before in any of my others batches of eggs

Have you mentioned it to the guy you got them off?
Maybe he kept some and they might be the same.
Its also worth knowing if he has bred them previously and if any of those survived.

Mel

I've asked him, just waiting on a response. This has been a big let down, was really looking forward to raising more :(

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
