Who would be interested in a meet and greet/swap meet this fall in the midwest? I would like to know who would want to come, whats the best time for everyone and where to hold it.
I would definitely go on a weekend this Fall or next spring. I would guess the best places to have it would be Chicago or St. Louis. I'm partial to St. Louis because there's good habitat close by for herping or whatever.
Someone told me there is a large reptile show in Chicago in October. Why don't we do it the same weekend so we can go check it out, maybe go herping, and then head on back to our igloos.
A pair of my friends may be interested in going, but they're not into salamanders...leopard geckos mostly.
You must be talking about the North American Reptile Breeders Conference on Oct 11th and 12th. At least that's the only one around that time I'm aware of.
Does the Chicago show sound reasonable to everyone. Right now I'm working pretty much 7 days a week, so if it is agreeable I'd like to let my company know I need that weekend off. Considering I live around Chicago, I'd hate to be the only no show.
Should we all stay in the same hotel/motel? Rates at the one hosting the reptile show start at $100 an night. Maybe we could all meet in the chat room to discuss our options.
WWW.Besthotelbargains.com has rooms in Tinley Park at the Hampton and Fairfield Inns at about $70.00 to $80.00. I think there's some cheaper motels around that area if I remember right.
I don't really have a hotel suggestion, as I'd be staying at home and driving the 90 mins to the Tinley Park show. I think it may be best to all just meet somewhere in the show at a certain time. Keep in mind though, admission to the show is $15.00
If it was my house, I wouldn't mind, but it's my parent's. They're kinda wierd about the people I meet on the net, and the experience would be unpleasant for all. I say that we hit up Dave
Also, what day would we all be meeting? I need to know in advance, so I can ask for time off of work. My new job has a really crappy schedule.
Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.
He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail. What do we think? https://www.amazon.com/Reptile-Simulation-Adjustable-Temperature-Tortoise/dp/B0CH1DPGBC
