Can somebody explain one of my melanoids gills. I noticed that tonight it looks like two gold specks on his gills.

Are you going to sell any of these?

A melanoid with iridophores isn't a melanoid - it's a wildtype. Looks like some of your albinos are golds, so that makes sense.

I do have 3wild types. But this is definitely a melanoid. Its black(other then those two spots on his gills) with no shiny rings in his eyes

But it may of just been the lighting.. Who knows :p

I actually got 9/17 golden albinos, from melanoid dad and wild type mother. Its quite insane :s "makes me want to keep a golden even more"

The bottom right is the same axolotl as the top pic and the first pic from the first post? Is the one on the left a wild type?

The one on the second picture to the left is a wild type(green-ish color)

How much would you charge to ship one of those to Illinois? And how much for that one on the right, in the right picture ?

I would not want to go through the hassle of getting permits and what not in order to ship axoltls overthe border unfortunately. I would assume this is very costly and just a lot of work to do! On top of overnight delivery, it would definitely be cheaper to find someone in the states to ship

They all(but potentially one golden) have homes now :) they are awaiting pickup tonight and tomorow.

Wow their getting big. Did any end up with Texas' colouring?

I know! They are 2months old now!

3of 18 had texas' coloring, two were gone two weeks ago and one my roomate wants to keep---may or may not come through, but if by spring he has nothing setup for this little guy, i am not going to keep taking care of him forever so I will contact you. Right now he is half the size due to being in the 50gallon so long, so he isnt even ready to go to a home yet.

Frank is gorgeous! I'm curious to see how he turns out.

Franks looking good. Definitely going to be an interesting looking axolotl.

Thanks! He is doing awesome, especially considering.

This was texas at the same age. Even she doesnt look like franks coloring.

Congratulations with the success of your babies. Frank is especially interesting. If you do end up selling him/her, maybe you could ask the owner to send to see how the coloring truly turns out. Phenotypes of different traits always seem to interest me. Since Texas is such a unique wildtype, it would be interesting to see how the offspring will progress.

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
