Very nice video and healthy active newts. Seems like you've really been pampering them. :D Congratulations for your breeding success. I have also used plastic strips as egglaying substrate for this species with good success.
 
Always great to see a feeding session, especially of this species!
My male has a smaller crest than yours does, it's getting colder in the shed now.
Can't wait for temps to sligtly raise after a cold period, and see the amazing crest of this species develop again! :D

I think this year i will try the plastic strips allso.
What material is it made of, bags you use for the bin or for sandwitches?
 
Hey there. very nice video! Congrats. I saw you had those plastic stripes and had luck with them.
when i breed my marmoratus last year i made two of those and not even one egg was laid in them..
Mora than 30 eggs were laid just in one Pistia stratiotes leafs and roots!

I like the 'death roll' from the newt at the end! Those worms seem huge that you're feeding them, makes for entertaining viewing though!

I'm always surprised how they can fit big worms in those small bodies.. but they can. Very nice video's of very nice animals! The crest of the male is about the same size as the crest on mine at the moment. A few weeks ago it was huge.. same with the tail. I also have those plastic strips in my tank, but my female wasn't in the mood this year, so no eggs..
 
Yea, I love that death role too. Too bad I couldnt have gotten a better view of it, but I wasnt expecting it. Last year my females layed most of thier eggs on the strips but just dropped some randomly too. Also some were in strands. This year if I breed I will attempt to raise more larvae to morphing. I love this species. I only have one other but my dobros are very comical.
