too much snow!!

it's 3 degrees here, windchill makes it -15.
we have this terrific layer of ice, snow, then ice that makes up about 10 inches.

good times.

Are you getting a lot of drifting up there in Hampshire, Jake? I barely made it to Batavia today - I saw cars all over in the ditches. I'm sure our Canadian brethren are having a rough time as well. I guess I will just hunker down for the day and hope the roads get better for work tomorrow.

Definitely a lot of drifting. It's from all the fields, the snow goes straight across them. It took me an hour an a half to get home from Wheaton yesterday because roads were closed.

Why is everyone in the US getting snow but me. Chip who lives no more than an hour from me(depending on how fast you drive:p) has gotten an inch or two I think. I mean for petes sake New Orleans and Las Vegas has even gotten some. Well thats enough whining from me now, I am going to pull my skirt up and go browse the forum.

Later,

Justin

That's practically balmy! :p Sounds like you guys got the raw end of the snow stick, though. This snow fall has made me very pleased with my new garage and plowed alley, but you certainly seem to have it worse.

At least you guys get snow! It's rather cold here as well and all we have is icy, rock-hard dirt for Christmas.

It's freezing up here, pretty soon it's gonna be -50 F, and we already have 3 feet of snow T_T

Dang, there is no way I can compete with Alaska... Does your spit freeze before it hits the ground? That's the first thing I think of when I hear of weather that cold, Jack London's To Build a Fire.

My brothers in Chicago like to tell me about putting soap bubbles in their pockets - sometimes it is so cold there that a soap bubble will freeze hard, and you can put it in your pocket (for whatever reason; I'll never understand brothers).

All just cool and rainy here in Berlin, no freeze as of yet.

Yeah it's fun to take a glass of water, walk outside and throw it into the air, it turns into fog immediately.

yeah it was (is) pretty cold her in Ohio today. No snow though. I was out with a landowner this morning and it was 1 degree F. I literally had 1/2 icicles hanging from my beard. FUN!

Actually we have not seen any in the last few days of cold weather. It was 8 F yesterday morning and 19 F this morning. Tomorrow it is supposed to be back up to 50 F. Crazy weather.

Sorry I meant that little bit of snow you had a couple of weeks back.

Sorry, that came and went so quickly that I had completely forgotten about it.

Two snows, and now freezing rain! Luckily my neighbors have this weird idea that since I'm a nurse, the world should shovel my driveway. I end up shoveling only once a year or so. I didn't have to shovel an inch these last two snows!

My half is the one on the right. For a row house, I have a pretty large yard in the back, and it abuts woods.

Well...I don't know if I get this over to you, but: There is no bad weather, just unsuitable clothing / preparation / equipment. Stop moaning, we have winter here every year! :p (And I hate it every year...)

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
