Coming from a family that frequently treats livestock as pets, then kills and eats them, an example being of a black lamb that was a runt and taken in by the family, only to be killed and served for dinner by my grandfather a month later simply because we had gotten too attached to the animal, this sort of thing is disgusting and normal at the same time. To be honest, I am questioning not the man's eating of a "pet", but his treatment of his animals if he can, after 40 years of breeding them for pets, sit down and eat one. It seems weird to me, but I suppose some can do it.
As for all the reasons mentioned earlier as to why this isn't a cruel act, I agree. I know plenty of families who rear their own chickens, pigs, and cows to eat because they refuse to accept the cruel treatment of livestock by large meat companies, and they at least know that the meal on their table had a good life while it lasted - that's something that I would never do, but can never blame someone else for.
Though, the reaction of the poster to this is more concerning than the actual video. Perhaps you should look at it this way: We as enthusiasts, know axolotls to be salamanders, amphibious, and I believe to be somewhat intelligent and much more exciting than fish. However, anybody who has ever first set eyes on my axolotls say "Wow, that's a cool fish." We eat fish. If they are seen more as fish than anything else, it makes perfect sense that it is easy for people to eat them. They are also known in the Asian food industries, but not as well as people on here make it out to be. They're more common as pets. Also, the people the food industry serves don't always know what they're eating:

But... That doesn't change the fact that i can barely sit through this video:

So, yeah. Pretty gross, but I suppose as long as they're actually humanely killed, and bred for food, then it's not up to us to say anything about it.
