The new season

The babies from last season that I wrote about in my article on Caudata.Org Magazine, are laying eggs. Some of last seasons baby cristatus have been laying for Mike G and are producing larvae and the baby karelinii I got from Jen from last year are doing the same. The large bodied triturus seem to mature and reproduce faster then the small bodied triturus. My montandoni from last season seem to be at least another season away. These new babies are actually my first generation of captive breed instead of captive born. Here's some Marmoratus pics:

wow, thats great! my female marms are laying many eggs....the only problem is, none of the males are in breeding mode. they are of course infertile... how can i trigger the males into breeding mode?? they are all living aquatic. tehre are live plants. the water temp...im not sure on...ill have to check.

An update... Some of the marmoratus larvae are getting ready to morph. Some of the cristatus larvae from eggs I got from Mike G are getting ready to morph too.

Both groups are probably about a week away.

Dave, congrats on bringing another batch of Triturus into the world!

Great stuff, Dave!

I'm anxious to see more and more pics of the larvae as they develop!

Wonderful Dave. Very exciting, and gratifying to rear these fantastic animals.
