Temperature?

My mum made me a mesh lid out of chicken wire for my smaller tank and one for my hamster too, there's no fancy frames, they are literally just chicken wire a bit wider than the tank that folds over creating a lid. Quite cheap and simple and cat proof! His favourite place is on top of my leucys tank!

Thanks so much for the information. I was just asking myself those same questions.
I also have a hard time keeping the temperature down on my tank. I always have to have a bottle of frozen water in there.
I do have a question with regards to thermometers. Which style is more accurate? I'm a bit paranoid over water temperature so I actually have three in my tank. Obsessive right?! I have the stick on strip that goes on the outside of the tank, a plastic one with the suction cup that goes inside the tank, and a glass one with a metal clip that hangs on the edge of the tank and is completely submerged. My sticky one reads 21 C, the plastic one measures 20 C and the glass one reads 19 C. I tend to take the average but I'm curious. I haven't a clue how to calibrate them.
