Since this section of the forum has been so inactive recently, I thought I would share my summer Taricha sightings. I found a couple adults, no larvae, back in early September; which in California, is basically summer. This population inhabits permanent pools. Interesting find, and some of the few caudates you can find in the summer here.

Thanks for posting your lovely photo's. Did you by any chance take any photo's of the pools or the area they where found?

Nice photos man! I've been thinking about posting my own photos from a few herping trips as well

Sorry, I didn't take any photos of the ponds they were in. They are natural ponds, but during the drought years the county parks department adds water to help the granulosa, torosa, toad, and frog populations.

Great pics! :) Would those be T. granulosa or torosa? They look like granulosa to me, but I always find it tricky to tell the two apart.

Nice finds! I forgot you found these. Was this at the same location that you found the breeding males in the spring?
I love how the one in the first photo is aquatic but still has very granulated skin, pretty cool looking.

You're right, they are granulosa.

They are most likely granulosa. I find torosa are in smaller numbers in this area and are more terrestrial.

And yes Seth, they are the same population.

By the way, these were found at highs of 83 ºF. Quite unusual.
