Swimming and jumping sound like a bad thing, actually. I think these newts are happy being slow-moving, sleepy giants. She's probably stressed by the rearrangment of the house, and she'll go back to being sluggish soon (I hope).

Here is a photo that shows my hongkongensis happy in his cave.

It's a glazed (shiny surface) ceramic.
