Hiya Pin-Pin!

Lovely photos and what wonderful marbleds you have! Might I ask how old are they? I have a male similar to yours but I guess he is a bit crest shy this year( not the right season).

Hope your males develop wonderful crests!

Should be a lot more marms around the U.S. next Spring

. Lots of the offspring from the last couple of seasons should be breedable.

Unfortunately mine probably won't be ready to breed until Spring of 2007

. I haven't been able to get mine to take to water and they've been slow to develop on land.

It's been a dream of mine to get captive bred marmoratus established and available here in the U.S. I'm glad to see that with the efforts of all those here on this board that this dream is finally coming along. My thanks and congratulations go out to everyone involved with this project.

Thanks Dave! They're your babies and I've been giving them the best care I can. They eat lovely, and the only concern is that one by one...everyone is developing crests! I hope I have at least one female!

Terry> I think they are now 1.5 years old? (Dave would know better) They had crested earlier in May, but remained aquatic.

I do hope to see them breed this year, I moved into a less insulated house (brrr) to get the temperatures to be more cool in the winter.

Pin-pin: Thanks for the age indication. The reason why I ask is because I am trying to establish if there is a difference in crest shape according to age. Mine are 2 years and they should develop a proper crest rather than the slight ridge they seem to be growing.

As for females, They only extend their tails/ produce a more aquatic tail. My females reverted to their aquatic form within a week. The males however seem to be taking longer. Good luck in breeding. I hope for the same myself!

They're going on 2 years Pin Pin. The first of that batched hatched out around Thanksgiving. My groups have been out of water for about 2 months now and under a minimal light cycle. Pretty soon, I'll be placing the males in about 3 inches a water to acclamate for a week or so before moving them into 12 or 14 inches of water. The girls will go through the same process about a week after the males. Hopefully it will give the males time to get all pumped up and when the girls show up it should be love at first site.

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!
