hi
this little alpine newt, must be a captive bred because all he or she does is sit on his piece of floating bark that is covered in java moss, and waits for me to feed him. lol
he or she never get startled by the huge pair of tweezers in his face, he just munches the bloodworms from the tweezers, and yesterday he was a real pig. he had about half a cube of frozen bloodworm. Today, I received my small sized organic European nightcrawler worms, cut one in half and fed it to my newt. I'm sure I heard a burping noise about five minutes after, but after inspecting the newt it didn't look like he had regurgitated the worm. do newts burp? lol.
he/she got a little bit left poking out of his mouth then started wiping the end of the worm on the cork bark. it was the cut end so wondering if the newt didn't like the bloody end of the worm?
anyway, I am sure the newt is captive bred as it is so easy to feed even though it is terrestrial. I am going to take out the air driven box filter tomorrow as I wonder if that is what is stopping newt from taking to the water. the water is stuffed with elodea and caboma, moss balls, bogwood etc.
