Hi everybody, I was curious what you guys think about the gills on my axolotl, Onyx. Onyx hasn't shown any signs of stress except how excessively forward her gills are? They're also super nice and fluffy which I thought was a good thing until doing further research on it last night and worrying myself even further.
The levels in the tank are within the proper parameters (I'm new to the axolotl thing so I check A LOT), the temperature maintains fairly steadily around 65°F and if it goes up it's usually only about 3° at which point I'll use a fan to bring the temperature down to around 63°.
The filter flow doesn't seem to bother Onyx. I have a single bubbler but she seems to love it. She has no problem eating and she seems very responsive to me and "happy" despite the gills. Oh, and her tail is not curved at the tip.
I'd love input! I worry myself over Onyx all the time making sure she's being taken care of properly and has a good life. I also chose to post here because people seem more genuinely helpful than on Reddit who seem to think you're intentionally abusing your pet
By the way, I attached some pictures of Onyx when I first got her as reference.
