Maja - He's about 15cm long. lol. he's hiding right now, so that's my guess.
Mel - Funny story. I go to a college that focuses heavily on the sciences. One of the classes here is Animal Development, in which they "grow" axolotl's. They observe the differences in growth between room temp, and those grown in the fridge. However, at the end of the class, they have nothing to do with them, and so give them out free to any student that wants them. So I picked up Ach this past April. Lol, i used to have two, but within 30 minutes of having them in my possession, he ate his brother.
lol
So Ach is about 8 months old, and he sprouted his front legs about a month after i picked him up. Hope you didn't mind the long answer!!
Hey Amanda, That's great that you got him from your school. What were the results of growing them under those two different circumstances? Just curious.
I had a leucistic 3 years ago and after she had died me and my sister had a arguement over whether it had had blue eyes or not.
She said they were black and I said blue, but after that i never saw another one with blue eyes so i thought i must have imagined it....but yours has too! So maybe I was right
Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
sorry I am having a hard time trying to upload the pictures- I have them saved on my hard drive... any suggestions-the prompts here are not allowing for downloads that way as far as I can tell. Thanks
