Nice animal.
Do you have papers for it??? And is it legal for you to keep them??
I´m asking because as far as i know, portugal has strict rules about native species, and also because like anywhere else, there are spanish "breeders" who deal with ilegal animals.

Im jealous lol. Ive never seen a fire salamander in person.

Yes Azhael, a complaint and this guy is in trouble! :violent:

Hi!

I Have the captive breed Invoice, and she is registered at ICNB (instituto da conservação da natureza e biodiversidade).

In January the law was amended, allowed the legal possession of the native animals who had the certificate of birth in captivity
.
All the best!

Are you sure? The law would not be changed only there for half of the year? Be careful what you do! ;) Know of any site where you can confirm this change? At least see if you take good care of the salamander!

cheers

At the ICNB you can view the ''new'' law.

All the best!

Can you point out where exactly is the article about th new law??? I don´t know portuguese, and although i can pretty much understand it (at least the yeast) i can´t find that law.

Hi,
I've been reading the law and very briefly it says that not only papers that prove that the animal was born in captivity, but also that the breeder has to go sign up for the CITES. The decree is this: 7 / 2010.

Well then since no iberian species of caudate is included in CITES and i take that the law is talking exclusively about CITES species( i suposse this law has appeared to control the problems you guys have with reptiles), i suposse it has absolutely nothing to do with S.salamandra or any other native caudate..which still makes them illegal in Portugal???

No, the law was made for all autócne animals ! I is that I can not explain it well, it does not dominate the subject! Asks the boy, presumably because, as he was to legalize your salamandra you should know the answer better than anyone!

I´m completely lost.
CITES papers and european caudate legality is a nonsense....they can´t ask you to have CITES for any of them, and if CITES is really a requirement, then all european caudates have to be excluded from that law....

Here's a good question, by chance yesterday I found myself thinking about it! For I have no idea what the process used for the European species! However let's the promise that I will try to learn more about these issues, if they are a little more loose!
cheers
