Rocks sticking to my little newt!

Sure, but bare in mind that recent imports are so stressed that their secondary sexual characteristics are reabsorved which makes sexing complicated an possibly unreliable. Once you start providing optimal conditions for your newt, it will eventually re-develop them at which point its gender will be very obvious indeed.
 
I would try and find fellow newt enthusiasts living in Iceland. They can give you advice in how to obtain "cheap" suitable plants and other needs for the hobby. Each country has it's difficulties (and advantages) when it comes to getting everything you need. Maybe one of them is living in the neighbourhood. It's always nice to see a good working setup in real live.
 
So far I only know ONE other cfbn owner in my area. Her setup is similar to mine though, and she is not very experienced. She also got both her newts in the same pet store as I did.

My newt is now enjoying the water way more than before, not hanging too much in the corners or on the rock.

Also, If I'll raise the water level, the rock won't provide land source as it's too small.. Can I put a closed jar in the tank (preferably filled with some rocks as a decoration) that was originally filled with some sort of food? (fx. pickles, jam ?)
 
Remove all that gravel.

Sorry, did not mean to sound too demanding:p The jar should be fine as long as it's cleaned properly. You might want to try driftwood too, it will give the newt a place to climb wihot taking up much water volume. Of course the best would be dense plant life.
 
I honestly don't think many pet stores in Iceland sell driftwood, but if they do, it's probably huuuuge pieces. would take up twice my little tank.
Also, the Jar will just be a temporary solution :)
I've put it in the dishwasher once and I'm gonna boil it later, then let it cool, fill it with something and put it in the tank, closed :)
 
Make sure there are no soap residues on it :p Another alternative that would take up less water volume than that jar is a gardening pot. Or you can even rig a makeshift raft or ramp for him instead. Experiment! :)
 
the jar looks great! He looks a little confused though :wacko:
