Your getting there buddy! As someone else said you have a tad too much sand in there you might wanna take about half of it out as those nasty gas pockets can form and poison the little guys but thats no biggie to sort out! the tanks coming along nicely that cloudyness will go eventually, it could take a week or two or just happen over night so bare with it!

Oooh Gomez is a melanoid he doesnt have yellow spots tho!

the only reason it is like that is so my plants would bury nicely in them when i get them all this week , but i will take out some if it is necessary:D
 
I can tell my little one is a melanoid because there are no reflective rings in its eyes. Shine a torch in their eyes and if you see a reflective ring then its not a melanoid.

oh and ps the water was a lot clearer before i put the plants in, but when i was burying them stirred up some dust , but it had cleared dramatically overnight , and plus the camera dont do it any justice

here we go :)
 
It is coming together nicely...what have you done with all the other plants?

I know everybody keeps nagging you but your sand is still a little deep do you have a ruler? it should be less than an inch...I only have a 1-2cm layer of sand, I did not really get enough!

oh ok i will take some more out, and they are all in , i didn't get that many they were only little plants so they didn't take up much room , but as they get larger i will remove where necessary
 
Oh okay I thought you said you were getting like 50 plants...I just don't want your tank to smell is all it looks like it gets pretty deep at the back.

How are the guys doing any gill growth? are they eating fine?

i did i got 46 plants , and what you see there is what i got , most of them were just twigs which i suppose if you plant on their own will grow into new plants , and i dont let it smell as its in my bedroom , i do frequent pint water changes

and they are ravenous eaters and eat loads , from worms and blood worms and the occasional blaptica dubai (tropical cockroach) so they are having a veriety

also i have noticed a small difference in their gills , they are a little bit bigger but at least we are getting somewhere , lets just hope they keep growing
 
Hi good work with your tank :D ... Its getting me worked up though lol i cant wait to put my sand and some plants in my tank not to mention getting the axolotls CANT WAIT lol... Just thought i would let you know i think your doing a good job and im getting loads of tips lol... Bye :D

lol , well it is one way to learn, from others mistakes :D and i have been making plenty so you will be the most knowlagable on here soon :L
 
We all know you want to get a larger tank and am doing everything to make them happy in the meantime

That's the way it works. I wanted to get a small tank to keep some Shrimp in. Cheap. But I'm out of room and it has to go where people see it so the wife is trying to hijack my project and get a Fluval Edge or something. :(

(Mac) Id love to get a tank for shrimps nice tasty snacks for gomez! I thought those fluval edge things looked like snazzy little tanks (i considered one for guppys) they look really stylish but I cant imagine they are particularly easy to clean etc, ive only seen pics and im wondering one thing.... How the hell do you get into the bloody thing? (dont mean jumpin into the thing for a swim) just where's the lid? haha probably me being stupid they also seemed quite pricey for the size!

Your gonna have to start building tanks into furniture like those fish tank coffee tables, or maybe you could hijack a kitchen cupboard? take the door off put abit of glass in the front make it water tight throw in some shrimpys and bobs your uncle! shimp in the kitchen! HAHA!

and this has got to be my favorite! maybe not this particular one but have seen videos of similar larger setups even going from room to room! god knows how they keep the water in, and clean it for that matter!

P.s i wouldnt recommend putting fish in a toilet tis a silly idea!

I disagree Ed, I have spent so much time watching my Axolotl's go toilet it is about time I returned the favour.

My albino is dropping a massive one as we speak.
