Very cool and very nice photos. Did you collect the female gravid?

no Russ we don't have them wild over here ,i've had them some time now.

Does the one have a stubby tail? Would that be due to underdevelopment?

no its fine its just the angle the photo was taken Kaysie.

Hi Ian,

Great pictures and congratulations.

Ed

Awesome pictures! Good luck for the little fellows!

thanks for all the comments everyone..

Once I found a leadback hatchling, i've never seen normal hatchlings before until now.

A really great sight to see Ian! Congratulations .

can i just say that these are very impressive photos. They are so small! I think it is so cool that they hatch fully formed like that. Are there alot of salamanders without aquatic stages?

I might be totally new to keeping any type of amphibians as pets but those little guys are just amazingly cute congrats:D

another update, they all seem to be doing well

In your opinion, would this be a good species for a beginners-level breeding project?

what type of sal or newt/ set up have you in mind .

The more terrestrial the better.

most of the lungless sals are completely terrestrial but tend to be a bit tricky to breed, have you thought about fire sals ?

Hmm, I had thought about fire sals, but wanted to try something a little less common. I think a little more research may change my mind though, and the fire's could prove to be very good experience in this area of the hobby. I've raised larvae of other species before, and kept adults, but never attempted breeding of any species.

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
