Question: Red eft questions...

i found a piece of drrift wood at the beach. how can i get rid of the sand, salt, and other things?

To sanitize it, I usually boil it until all of the tannins are leeched out. Some say soaking it for days helps, but I find boiling/baking to be most effective in ridding it of any nasties. Same with found rocks.

I would also like to make a DIY 3d backround later on...Preferrably tree roots or especially pond life.Any one have any ideas???

Oh well forget that...
I have some pieces of dritwood that i found in the probobly best conditons,
No fertilizer of any kind,
No pesticide,
Not near ocean,
unfortunatly I'm not sure what speices they are. Would Pictures help?
Also my Newt seems rather lethargic and he sits in a little dent in his dirt.
I think it is because it is getting kind of warm i need to cool im off i think.

(I didn't say lizard this time!):D

Wait a minute! I washed my hands (without soap) and picked him up he started to walk around.
Also and more importantly, he is looking kinda green!:D:D:D
I also fed him some slug today for his first time and he ate it like a worm.

Hey if your reading this please respond!
So I still need the drift wood to be identified.
Also I recently got some N.V.V eggs... Any suggestions to keeping them?
(please no smart-alack answers.)
:D

I have already read both of those multiple times, i just want to know any other help or ideas. The driftwood does not have bark on it, and for the identifying please look at this,
Caudata Culture Articles - Wood in Vivaria
That should tell you why i have to identify it. Also the forums are really of no use to me, i know most of the information. (for ealier people, raising eggs is my bad point...)

I guess you'll need to find a forum on driftwood identification. Good luck with that.

Pictures might still be helpful or you could make an educated guess based on what kind of trees are in the area.

Never mind i think they died anyways...

I'm crushed, wow that is a freaking bummer.This sucks.
I was so excited about them, now they are gone before they were born.
I'm going to cry. God **** it i hate this.

One may not be dead but I'm sure one is.
Dead one; Moldy, and white
Prob dead one; White but only after i was cleaning with a syringe and half sucked it up, the brownish goo came off and it is now white
Want Pics?

pics would def help with any type of subject (like the driftwood...), i have heard that eggs can be quite hard for a new keeper to properly care for, and even then the larvae can be taxing on a new keeper as well, all in all i would never try for eggs unless i had a lot of information on-hand aswell as an expert for every step of the way. not that you need an expert but im pretty sure the basic care information will only get you so far with raising eggs.

my guess is that the moldy one is absolutley dead and the de-slimed white egg is most likely dead, id wait for an expert like jennewt or azhael to give better info for you.

Thanks i can't say much more, im still depressed, and want to know if its alive.

Unless you have a microscope, the only way to know if it's alive is to wait and see if it goes moldy or not.

Ok today i took another peek and it got its black dot thing back, but now its white????
It appeared white and cloudy, but then it went away to what it is now. What does this mean? I will also keep my eye on him.

They were both dead.
My Eft has a white speck on his nose, he is either shedding or has some mold on him. His throat skin moves up and down this has always been going on but i wasn't sure. Is this because he is smelling the air like other animals or something else? I'm not that worried about this.
Finally I have never seen any Uh... Fecal matter anywhere, but he does not have any disdened belly or throat, I'm not that worried about this too, I was just wondering.
Thanks,
Orange Juice
