Okay, I know waxworms aren't the best for lotls, but that is all I am able to get my hands on at the moment. As soon as earthworms come back in stock that is what I'll get him, but in the mean time, I'm having a horrible time keeping them alive. I will get them home, and they die with in a few days. I keep them in the fridge and stuff, and only take off the top when I am getting one out. It sucks that I keep having to buy them because I don't want to feed my baby dead worms. :c What am I doing wrong?

When I used to buy waxworms in the UK they would come in a small tub with some kind of wood shavings. I never kept them in the fridge and they would survive for several weeks until I had used them all up. Are they in fridge when you buy them? Maybe they are too cold?

Regards Neil

I get wax worms for mine as treats, as said in the previous post they come in a little tub with wood shavings in. In the shop they are just on a shelf next to tubs of crickets etc so I have never put them in the fridge as I didn't think it was needed. The wax worms live for ages just in the tub sat next to my tank, I would agree with the previous poster's theory that the fridge is just too cold for them.

I know when I have gotten wax worms they guy told me if you put them in the fridge they go into a coma state. I put my wax worms in the fridge once and when I took them out they look dead, but once you let them warm up they're moving and totally alive. Maybe that's the cause with your wax worms.
