I can’t get a good pic of the tank right now, but here’s some pictures. Would u guys be able to link some decor u use? I want to redesign my lotl tank this summer, but can’t really find good decor in petco+petsmart.

Finding places for this baby to hide and feel safe. He doesn’t love the glass bottom. And all the plants on the right are to help lessen the current from the chiller output tube. I even have a sponge zip tied sponge on it. This pic is post feeding. I’m cleaning the floor shortly.

Just spent the past 2.5 weeks aquascaping the tank with rocks, driftwood, and live plants (I have to admit there are 3 fake plants in there). It’s a 50 gal with about 30 gal of water. Also added 5 tiny feeder guppies, 2 rosy red minnows (started with 4, lol), 5 danios (aquarium shop has been out of cloud mountain minnows for weeks), bladder snails, and a ton of ghost shrimp. Just a note, I did have to return the one zebra danio, as he was nipping the tails off the other fish and may have nipped at Falkor (my axie). I replaced him with 2 cosmic blue danios, and they’ve been great!

My 4ft tank. only 2 axolotls for now, got some more friends coming
im very proud of the terracotta pot castle i made for them, spent hours grinding away
any sharp/rough edges,

spent just as long smoothing out the broken jug ornament, that had all kinds of nasty sharp spots, but definitely lotl friendly now
what substrate are you using? id love to have a moss bottom

repost of my improved tank with hairgrass and now better lighting

First time owner, have had my axolotl (Freckles) about a month now. Seems to be happy with her tank set up, standard 20 gallon, was hoping for a long but this is all I could fit in the space I had. Mix of live and fake plants, HOB filter which freckles loves to lay under and get pushed around in the current (didn’t think axies were into current????). Read all the mixed emotions about sand Substrate but it’s working so far.

Hello from Mexico!

New member here. Just bought 3 little axolotls two weeks ago.

Was advised not to have any kind of sand or pebbles, and to avoid decorating the aquarium with resin figures or logs so... here's my setup!
Plus a little red snail that came with the plants

Might want to get rid of the snail too.
I'm also not an expert but the idea of three that size together might be asking for long term trouble. You may want to look into doing something with a tank divider for safety precautions until they grow out of their cannibalistic stage.

They were all missing one leg from the aquarium, but they have plenty of space to eat here, and haven't had any trouble. But there's one that hasn't grown much, I think I'll maybe divide the tank to set aside that little guy

Was told it wouldn't cause any problems and that the axolotls wouldn't eat it. It even eats some of the waste I think
I hope so but I think you should post an inquiry about it in the forums. Better safe than sorry.

As for the three together, I'd also recommend you post an inquiry. That said, your tank looks big enough that they should be fine with each having their own section until they become adults.

At any rate, I strongly recommend you post an inquiry about it in the forums so you can get quality advice. 🙂

Hey everyone, just want a little advice. Its 55 - 60 celcius in my Salamanders tank. Hes curled up and tyring ti bury himself, Im assuming hes too cold. I was wondering if he would benefit from a heated rock cave (since he LOVES his cave) that I could set on low? I NEVER see him curled up and trying to bury himself unless his tank sits at 63 degrees celcius or lower. So I am assuming hes a little uncomfortable.

He also seems a little sluggish, again, assuming hes cold. Having heating trouble with the new house right now. What do we think? Was thinking of grabbing this for him since its got very low, medium, and higher medium heat settings that exude heat downward inside the rock cave but ALSO exudes it UPWARDS outside of the rock cave, effectively keeping the tank itself a little warm. Seems like it miiiight be a little small for him though, my guy is about 7 inches from tip of his nose tothe tip of his tail.
