Please help- emergency nitrates

do the water changes at 50% until the nitrates gets to a more manageable level, always do weekly water changes (if you have to do water changes every couple of days at any point it's fine, just never leave doing a water change over a week)
the day after the water change top the bacteria up, the bacteria can be added to start a cycle and also to top up.

So unfortunately I woke up this morning, and I just checked his levels and his ammonia is up to 1ppm. I immediately moved him into some cold dechlorinated water, do I just have to let the tank sit until the cycle restarts? I don’t really know how to tell if the cycle is starting or not, since my nitrates were already really high it’s hard to read if they’re increasing on the api test. Pebble is in quarantine right now :( I’m also going to make a new thread so I don’t have to spam this one forever but any more advice is always appreciated, you’ve been a massive help
