Question: Person who can grow my axie needed

I always get quoted mid-edit and I feel so silly after. It happened to me in the other thread too. People are too fast with the replies!

If your temperatures are that high with ice bottles, no wonder so many Aussies stress the importance of chillers. You might find other options in the article I gave to supplement your cooling until you get a chiller. Some other ideas would be a fan for evaporative cooling and insulating the outside of your tank walls.

LOL :rofl:
I looked at that article just then. Some good ideas, I do have a spare pump i bought to try and implement some of those ideas. I found Ice bottles to be one of the most effective. Im looking at chillers now online.

I have purchased two cooling fans. It says it will take of roughly 3-5 Degrees Celsius each. Those used in conjunction with ice, should be able to cool it down enough.

You should be cycling out ice bottles before they've melted completely. This could be more like 5 or 6 times a day. I'd have a good stock of 30 or 40 bottles that you can cycle through.

I have 4 big 2Liter bottles. It takes a while to freeze them. and I'm not always home through the middle of the day to put them in the water.

Just to summarise everything;
1) Cycle your tank. Using a few little minnows isnt the same as two large axies so you may find that when you put them back in the tank, the cycle will falter again.

2)Get the tank cooler, it needs to be under 20C. Once you have done this, the axies should regain their appetite again.

4 bottles is definitely not enough. When I was using bottles, I used 3 or 4 milk jugs, and dozens and dozens of small bottles. You need to have enough that you always have frozen ones to add. The whole point of using water bottles is to constantly have frozen ones in the tank to cool the water.

If you can't keep the tank at a steady temperature, then you need to consider something else, like investing in a chiller, or fridging them. Repeated swings in water temperature are more stressful than being slightly too warm.

Im getting cooling fans, and looking into chillers. I Have 4 2L bottles of ice, and 1.25L bottle. I also have 5 small standard water bottles that i put in when the big ones have melted and are in the process of freezing. Usaully my tank is between 19-21 sometimes 22. but the last 3-5 days its been around 20-24 as the temp is a bit higher at the moment. I should have a chiller by next week.
