No sand, no bare tank. Any other options?

yeah, ive tried everything and through trial and error have found the grass to suit me best. I have just built a four foot tank and decided to try siliconing floor tiles to the base but after a few weeks i don't like it and im going to go back to my grass :)

You could have bare bottom and put a colorful or realistic, aquarium background below the tank

My hubby took an acrylic sheet and cut it to size, used aquarium silicone to stick down some sand, and added a few larger rocks.
Axies love it, looks good, easy to clean. Only problems were that it cost a bit to get the stuff and stank out the kitchen to make - they use vinegar as a solvent for silicone!

Ours is bare bottom but has a brightly coloured aqua towel underneath - it actually looks quite cool from above :)

Sweeet! And I also like the grass idea!

hi i use artificial grass in my tanks, i measured my tank and cut a piece to fit but made sure it was quite snug, (to stop the earthworms escaping under the grass) depending on the grade of the grass it should stay down however i bought some cheaper stuff and it kept riding up the grass in the corners, so i had to rearrange my tank so that the rocks n hides were in the corners.
when it comes to cleaning i just lift it out (as its in one big piece) take it into the bathroom and it shower it down to get rid of any sunken bloodworms/ poop.
ive had it in my tanks for approx 18 months and never had any trouble with it at all, my axies love it as they can grip onto it when walking around.
any other questions you may have just ask and if i can answer i will :)
ill a little pic so u can see what it looks like
where did you get this turf? I hope/assume its 100% nylon, Im looking into doing this for my tank and was curious what brand you use or where you got it? great idea!

Where did you buy this from? did you cleaning first, and is it easy to clean up the waste?

Had a question that I just want to be sure of. My marbled newt is a little over a year old and has started to develop and I noticed that he is starting to swell a little below his abdomen. I guess I’d like to know if they are his testes or if I need to be concerned.

Hello!!! I'm new to this website and idk how to ask a proper question on the designated spot yet, so I'll ask here, I'm a first time Axolotl owner, and my dad used to run an aquarium store, anyways... Orca, my Axolotl, seems to loose parts of her toes on one limb from time to time, I can't seem to find the problem. Tempature is well, she doesn't seem to have any infections or anything, though. And I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a vet in Brazil for amphibians that are in a reasonable distance to drive without stressing Orca out too much

Hello, I’m hoping for some advice please. Our Axolotl is about 7 months old. Till now no problem. Eating, growing and happy. He’s simply stopped eating. Everything looks fine, his gills look healthy and no apparent signs of sickness. He just swims past the pellets and bloodworm like he can’t smell it. I don’t think it’s a blockage either. Any ideas and suggestions for treatment would be much appreciated. Thank you!
