New tank!

Your setup looks fantastic!!!! What should I use for substrate for my tiger sal.? Can I use commom earth? What is the best? There are many species of moss, there is any that have some kind of poison or can do any harm to the salamander?

Thank you, I used coco fibre in my tank, earth can be used as well, but I never tried to use it, maybe other members can tell you?

I bought the moss in a garden center, free from chemicals of course, and you can also use the brown moss that I use( Spaghnum)

Hi, Just wandering are they all females or are you breeding them?

Love your tank! Makes me wish I had more than one barred tiger! But for now, I will be happy with the one I have. But really, I want to redo my salamander's tank, I think I will incorporate a lot of your ideas into mine when I redo it! Thanks for all the pictures!

Thank you! My tank doesnt look like this anymore, instead of moss I have grass and some hiding spots.

This is a picture of how my tank is right now this picture is older, but nthing changed

Dear All, I would appreciate some help identifying P. waltl disease and treatment. We received newts from Europe early November and a few maybe 3/70 had what it looked like lesions under the legs- at that time we thought maybe it was the stress of travel- now we think they probably had "red leg syndrome" (see picture). However a few weeks later other newts started to develop skin lesions (picture enclosed). The sender recommended to use sulfamerazine and we have treated them 2x and we are not sure they are all recovering. Does anyone have any experience with P. waltl diseases and could give some input on this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
